Kannada superstar praises co-star for her commitment despite date issues; Nayanthara calls Yash the hardest-working actor she has ever seen
The trailer launch of Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown Ups in Bengaluru on Saturday brought together two of the biggest names from South Indian cinema. Yash and Nayanthara, who share screen space for the first time in this ambitious gangster drama, had nothing but praise for each other at the event.
What made the occasion special was Nayanthara’s presence itself. The actress, known for rarely attending promotional events, surprised everyone by showing up. Yash made sure to acknowledge this and went on to heap praise on his co-star.
Yash Praises Nayanthara’s Commitment Despite Date Issues
Yash revealed that the production faced scheduling difficulties while shooting Nayanthara’s portions. The team had limited time with her, but she completed her scenes professionally.
“When we came with this film, we were in a situation where we had some issue with the dates. You didn’t get much time and we kind of pushed you,” Yash said, addressing Nayanthara directly at the event.
“But I really liked the way you committed yourself to the film, even with all the date issues and other things. You have given your best and how. You have added value and you look badass. You look like the most badass sister anyone could ever have. You have nailed this character,” he added.
Yash also called Nayanthara a “Lady Superstar” and praised her for choosing to be part of the film. “It takes a lot of grace to choose a film like this and do what she has done. She indeed is Lady Superstar. I know what market she has and how much fans love her,” he said.
Yash and Nayanthara play siblings in Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown Ups. Nayanthara’s character is named Ganga, a feared gangster.
Nayanthara Compares Yash to Rocky Bhai
The admiration was mutual. Nayanthara recalled meeting Yash for the first time and said his real-life personality matched the larger-than-life image he has on screen.
“I have worked with a lot of actors and superstars, everyone is really big, cool and good. But when I met Yash for the first time, the larger-than-life image that he has on screen, he was exactly like that in real life. I wondered if I was entering into Rocky Bhai’s kingdom,” she said with a laugh.
The remark referenced Yash’s iconic character from the KGF franchise, which played a major role in establishing his pan-Indian superstar image.
Nayanthara Calls Yash the Most Hardworking Actor
Nayanthara went on to praise Yash’s dedication to Toxic, revealing that he spent close to four-and-a-half years working on the film.
“I have never ever seen a more hardworking actor than him. Every single day on set, I was amazed by this man. He has given over four years of his life to the film. He has literally sacrificed his time with his family, kids and everything that he would enjoy as a normal human being. He is just about work and focuses on that,” she said.
“He is into everything and how everyone is doing. I have never seen an actor or even a producer do that. I have so much love and respect for Yash for the actor, producer and human being he is, the family man, husband and father he is,” she added.
Nayanthara Initially Said No to the Film
Nayanthara also revealed that she was initially hesitant about signing Toxic because of its large ensemble cast.
“When Geetu Mohandas called me for the film, I wasn’t so sure because there are a lot of actors in the film, and I’m usually a little careful or maybe a little apprehensive about choosing a film where there are a lot of actors,” she said.
“I said, ‘No, I don’t think I want to do the film.’ She asked me so many questions. I then said, ‘Okay, it’s fine, just come and narrate it to me,’” Nayanthara added. After director Geetu Mohandas narrated the story to her, Nayanthara agreed to come on board.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is a gangster action drama that features Yash in dual roles. The film brings together an impressive ensemble cast including Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth in key roles.
Yash reportedly plays dual characters—Raya and Rumi, also known as Ticket. Kiara Advani stars as Nadia, while Nayanthara essays the role of Ganga. Huma Qureshi plays Elizabeth, Tara Sutaria appears as Rebecca, and Rukmini Vasanth portrays Mellisa.
The film is jointly produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations.
Toxic is scheduled to release in theatres worldwide on August 26, 2026. The film was earlier set to release on March 19, 2026, but was pushed due to “escalating military tensions and conflict in West Asia.” It was later postponed from June 4, 2026 to the current August 26 date.
At the trailer launch, Yash also revealed that Tara Sutaria’s role was expanded during the making of the film. He credited her presence and contribution for the decision to increase her scenes beyond what was originally written.
