The wait for the English version of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is finally over. The makers have officially announced that the English cut of the Yash-starrer will hit Indian theatres on September 4, 2026. This version comes with a shorter runtime compared to the Indian-language versions that released on August 26.
The film, directed by Geetu Mohandas, was shot simultaneously in Kannada and English. While the multilingual versions were released worldwide last month, the English version was held back for the Indian market. Now, audiences in select cities can finally watch the action drama in its original English format.
English Version Lands in Theatres on September 4
The English version of Toxic will release in select theatres across India on September 4. The release will target major urban centres, including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram. Bookings for the English cut have already opened in several cities.
Interestingly, the English version was already released overseas on August 26, the same day as the other language versions. Lionsgate acquired the rights to distribute the English version in international territories, targeting mainstream Western audiences. For the Indian-language versions released abroad, Phars Film handled the distribution.
Shorter Runtime Makes the Cut Tighter
One of the biggest talking points about this release is the shorter runtime. The English version runs for 2 hours, 56 minutes, and 52 seconds (176.52 minutes). This makes it roughly 18 minutes shorter than the Indian-language versions, which run for 3 hours, 14 minutes, and 12 seconds (194.12 minutes).
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) gave the English version an ‘A’ certificate on September 1. The shorter runtime suggests a faster-paced edit, possibly focusing more on the action and thriller elements. While the makers have not confirmed which scenes were cut, some reports suggest that songs like Tabaahi and Madhosh may have been removed.

Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups features Yash in a double role. The film also stars Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth, and Akshay Oberoi in important roles. The movie is produced by Venkat K Narayana’s KVN Productions and Yash’s own production house.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, who also co-wrote the film with Yash, the movie is set in post-independence Goa and blends action with a dark, fairy-tale-like world. This project marks Yash’s return to the big screen after the massive success of KGF: Chapter 2 in 2022.
The film has received mixed reviews and saw a drop in box office collections after its opening day. The release of the shorter English cut is seen as a way to attract urban audiences who might prefer a more concise version.
The English version will be available in select cities, giving audiences another chance to experience Yash’s action drama on the big screen.
