Paramount+ has officially set the premiere date for the fourth and final season of Yellowjackets. The show, which has earned multiple Emmy nominations, will bring the story of the high school soccer team stranded in the wilderness to a close. The final season will pick up after the Season 3 finale, where the survivors finally made contact with the outside world using a satellite phone.

The Final Season Teaser Features a 1990s Throwback

The teaser trailer for Season 4 takes viewers back to the 1990s with a nostalgic twist. The video shows a series of old television sets displaying footage from the show alongside fictional news reports about the rescue of the missing soccer players.

Kurt Loder, the former MTV News anchor, appears in the teaser delivering a fictional report about rescue teams locating the teenagers in Canada. His presence adds another layer of 1990s nostalgia to a series that already weaves that era into its storytelling.

The teaser ends with a chilling voice crying out, “Can anyone hear me?”. That line connects directly to the Season 3 finale, where Sophie Thatcher’s character Natalie finally managed to reach the outside world.

What to Expect from Yellowjackets Season 4

The official logline from Paramount+ sets up the final season’s conflict: “As the survivors race to bury their sins before rescue arrives and an old flame roars back into town with plans of her own. Turns out not every homecoming is a joyous one, and this one’s going to sting.”

The upcoming season will explore what happens after the team’s rescue and their difficult return to normal life. Co-creator Ashley Lyle previously mentioned the possibility of showing how the characters reassimilate into society and the new struggles they face after leaving the wilderness behind.

Season 3 ended with the survivors finally getting a chance at escape. The final season will show whether they can bury their darkest secrets before help arrives.

Why Yellowjackets Is Ending with Season 4

The show’s creators originally planned for five seasons. In 2023, co-creator Ashley Lyle told Entertainment Weekly that the plan was about five seasons. However, in October 2025, Lyle and co-creator Bart Nickerson announced that Season 4 would be the last.

In their joint statement, they explained their decision: “After three incredible seasons, and great consideration, we’re excited to announce that we will be bringing the story of Yellowjackets to its twisted conclusion in this fourth and final season”. They added, “We’ve always known there would come a point when the story would tell us it wants to end, and it’s our belief that our job — our responsibility — is to listen”.

The creators also thanked the fans directly: “Most of all, we want to thank the fans who have stuck with us through every moment, mystery, and meal — the Hive is nothing without you!”

Filming Wrapped in July 2026

Production for the final season moved forward throughout 2026. Filming began on February 25, 2026, and continued through July 30. In July, Melanie Lynskey shared on Instagram that filming was “nearly at the finish line!!!”. Multiple sources confirmed that filming wrapped by the end of July.

Yellowjackets Has Received 10 Emmy Nominations

Since its debut in 2021, Yellowjackets has earned significant recognition from the television industry. The show has received a total of 10 Emmy nominations, including consecutive nods for Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Melanie Lynskey.
