Episode 1 Recap: How Welsh’s Peaceful Life Ended

Episode 1, titled “The Mushroom Pie,” introduced Welsh, a 16-year-old boy living in Broccoli Village with his adoptive mother Mama Caroni, who taught him how to cook. Their quiet life of baking pies ended when a black dragon named Asalar attacked the village.

Welsh’s life was thrown into chaos. He was forced to flee and encountered Joris, a legendary hero who once resolved a great conflict that determined the fate of nations, and Bechamel, Welsh’s childhood friend and a mischievous cat-girl. The attack by Asalar and the meeting with Joris pulled Welsh into a larger conflict he never expected to be part of.

The episode also revealed the larger stakes. Queen Zabel of Bonta, guardian of the Ebony Dofus, seeks to unite the nations of the World of Twelve. A prophecy spoken by her son Shedar foretold her fall at the hands of a boy with azure blue eyes—and that boy is Welsh. To save his world, Welsh must find the Ivory Dofus, the only artifact capable of defeating Zabel.
