What Happened Before: The Story So Far
Duel Masters LOST takes place in an alternate version of the Duel Masters WIN anime. In this darker timeline, 16-year-old Win Kirifuda wakes up in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district with no memories of his past. He lives a quiet, empty life as a high school student until a mysterious transfer student named Crysta appears, claiming to know everything about him.
The story unfolds across three previous chapters. The first chapter, Tsuioku no Suishou (Crystal of Remembrance), introduced Win’s amnesia and his first encounters with the Lost Field, a dangerous world where creatures roam free.
The second chapter, Gekka no Shinigami (Reaper of the Moon), brought Win face to face with a man called the “Black Reaper,” Kuroshiro Kyoushirou. This chapter also deepened Win’s connection to the Crystal Cards.
The third chapter, Boukyaku no Taiyou (Sun of Oblivion), followed Win as he searched for a lighthouse he saw in a fragmented memory. He travelled with his classmate Niika Katori and a new ally named Wayumi Tsukumo. At the lighthouse, Win faced a water god called Mizuhanome no Kami, who came to judge his “sin.” The chapter ended with Win fused further with the Jashin Emperor, carrying the terrible feeling that he had harmed someone.
Episode 1 Story: Win’s Guilt and the Boy with the Crystal Card
Episode 1 of Danzai no Shounen picks up right after the lighthouse events. Win returns to Shinjuku still haunted by the sensation that he has taken a life. The Lost Field continues to spread its dark influence over the city, and unexplained deaths keep happening.
A mysterious boy named Lost Kamisaki appears before Win. Lost claims to know what lies beyond the boundary between worlds, and in his hand shines a Crystal Card said to hold the power to change the world. Win is drawn to Lost’s mysterious aura, but he is also pulled into a new conflict shaped by guilt, desire, and Lost’s hidden intentions.
Meanwhile, a man known as the “legend of street duels,” Murasaki, is preparing to host a tournament called the Duel Colosseum in the night-time streets of Shinjuku. This event brings new challengers and raises the stakes for Win and his friends.
The episode carries an R-17+ rating for violence and profanity, continuing the series’ departure from the lighter tone of traditional Duel Masters anime.
