Tanushree Dutta has shared a new post about the death of Nana Patekar, calling it a “positive development” in her life. The former actress, who accused Patekar of inappropriate behaviour on a film set years ago, made the comment after visiting the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain. She also said she still has doubts about whether the news of his death is real. Patekar died on October 8, 2026, at the age of 75 from a heart attack in Goa. Dutta’s latest post comes after she faced heavy criticism for calling him “evil dead” earlier this week.

What Tanushree Dutta Said In Her New Post

Tanushree Dutta shared a video on Instagram showing her offering prayers at the Mahakal Temple. In a long caption, she wrote that she visited the temple right after what she called a positive development in her life. She said she still has serious doubts about the authenticity of the death news but hopes the “evil is dead and gone for good”.

“What a coincidence that I got to visit Mahakal right after such a positive development in my life. Even though I seriously have my doubts on the authenticity of the death news. I really wish and hope truly this evil is dead and gone for good and that all the evils of my life die off one by one”.

She also said that her faith in Mahakal Baba saved her from several attacks on her life. Dutta claimed that she was shielded from “hundreds of maaran kriyas” done by Nana and his friends. She prayed for the death of all those she considers evil, including their helpers and supporters. She wrote that she cannot fulfil her purpose in the world if these people continue to live.

The post also included a concerning statement about her own life. Dutta wrote that she will not stay on Earth unless this wish is fulfilled. She said, “It’s either them or me here on Earth Baba. In fact, in space, I can connect better with you. Earth is overrated and I have no real incentive to continue to live here”.

Why Tanushree Dutta And Nana Patekar Have A Long History

The conflict between Tanushree Dutta and Nana Patekar goes back to 2008. Dutta alleged that Patekar behaved inappropriately with her while filming a dance sequence for the film Horn ‘Ok’ Pleassss in March 2008. She claimed he insisted on adding intimate dance steps that were not part of her contract, despite her clear objections. Dutta left the set in protest and filed a complaint with the Cine & TV Artists Association (CINTAA) in 2008, but no major action was taken at the time.

Patekar denied all the allegations. In September 2018, Dutta spoke about the incident again in a series of media interviews. Her statements went viral and became a major moment in India’s #MeToo movement. Many women across the Indian media and entertainment industries began sharing their own stories of workplace harassment.

In October 2018, Dutta filed a written complaint with Mumbai Police against Patekar and others. An FIR was registered against Patekar, who continued to deny the claims. In June 2019, Mumbai Police filed a B-Summary closure report, stating there was not enough evidence to support Dutta’s allegations. In 2025, the Mumbai Andheri Magistrate Court dismissed the criminal proceedings against Patekar because the complaint was filed beyond the legal limitation period.

Nana Patekar died in the early hours of October 8, 2026, at his home in Dona Paula, Goa. Doctors at Manipal Hospital tried CPR for about 45 minutes but could not revive him. He was declared dead at 5:20 a.m.. An autopsy report later confirmed that he died of a heart attack caused by a blood clot in his left main coronary artery.

After the news broke, Dutta posted a video of herself boarding a flight to Lucknow for a work event. In the video, she said she had heard the news but wanted to focus on her event. She said, “What an odd day for all this to happen” and added that she was worried the media would only ask her about “evil dead”.

Her comments drew strong criticism from several groups. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) issued a statement condemning her remarks. AICWA president Suresh Shyamlal Gupta called her statement “deeply objectionable, insensitive and shameful”. The organisation also pointed to Patekar’s contributions to cinema, his work with the Naam Foundation for farmers, and his service during the Kargil War.

“At such a time, Tanushree Dutta’s statement on social media, in which she used the words ‘Evil Dead’, is deeply objectionable, insensitive and shameful. AICWA strongly condemns it”.

Actress Sandhya Mridul also stood by Dutta. She wrote on Instagram, “Does a person stop being an abuser when they die? Does the harm they caused disappear too? For survivors, it doesn’t”.

Chinmayi Sripada, who has spoken about her own experiences, also offered support. What Tanushree Dutta Said About The Criticism

Tanushree Dutta responded to the backlash in a live video on Saturday, October 11. She compared the criticism she faced to the Dussehra tradition of burning effigies of Ravana. She asked why the same objections were not raised against that practice.

She called Patekar “shaitaani, cunning, manipulative, shaatir dimag, jhootha” and said she will not stop speaking the truth. “I will not hesitate to speak the truth because I am not scared,” she said.

Dutta has maintained that a person’s death does not erase the experiences of those who have accused them of wrongdoing. She has not backed down from her position despite the criticism from AICWA and many social media users.
