The former manager of late actress Kim Sae Ron, known as Mr K, has filed a lawsuit against YouTuber Kwon Young Chan for spreading false information and defamation. The legal action comes after months of online accusations that damaged Mr K’s reputation and invaded his privacy.
Mr K filed the complaint on June 19, 2025, at Seoul’s Seocho Police Station. He accused Kwon Young Chan of violating South Korea’s Information and Communications Network Act by making defamatory statements on his YouTube channel, Kwon Young-chan TV, for three months.
Kwon Young Chan’s videos claimed Mr K was involved in embezzling hospital bills and grooming Kim Sae Ron. The YouTuber also exposed Mr K’s real name and identity while discussing the Kim Soo Hyun-Kim Sae Ron dating controversy, which Mr K argues was an invasion of privacy.
Mr K strongly denied all allegations. He stated that hospital bills were paid using company cards, not personal funds, and there was no illegal activity involved. He also clarified that he only became Kim Sae Ron’s manager in January 2023 when she signed with Management Run, making grooming claims impossible.
The former manager described his relationship with Kim Sae Ron as fatherly, saying she trusted him deeply and even called him “dad.” He said, “I supported her financially during her hardships and did my best to help her career revival.” He called Kwon Young Chan’s claims “inhumane” and said they worsened his grief over her death.
Kwon Young Chan, however, had previously reported Mr K for violating medical and personal information laws. The YouTuber defended his actions, saying he sent multiple messages to Mr K but received no response, so he addressed the questions publicly.
Kim Sae Ron’s death earlier this year was followed by multiple controversies, including financial struggles and legal battles involving her family. Reports revealed she had massive debts, including money owed to celebrities and agencies. Her family denied some claims, but court documents confirmed financial troubles.
The lawsuit adds another layer to the ongoing disputes surrounding Kim Sae Ron’s legacy. Mr K’s legal action aims to clear his name, while Kwon Young Chan’s channel continues discussing the case, drawing public attention.
