A new teaser for the upcoming drama “Heroes Next Door“ shows stars Jin Sun Kyu and Yoon Kye Sang meeting in a hilarious and suspicious circumstance. The clip introduces a neighborhood where nothing is as simple as it seems, especially when your new neighbor might be a former special forces soldier.

The comedy-action series follows a group of former special forces soldiers who reunite not to save the nation, but to protect their own families and community. The new preview focuses on the dynamic between two of these unlikely heroes.

An Unlikely Neighborhood Investigation

The teaser opens with Kwak Byung Nam, played by Jin Sun Kyu, who appears to be on a neighborhood patrol. He is seen carefully examining someone’s trash, immediately setting a tone of comedic suspicion.

“She’s not the type of person to play with a stuffed rabbit, and she’s also not the type of person to throw out the trash like this,” Byung Nam states, showing his keen eye for detail.

His new neighbor, Choi Kang, played by Yoon Kye Sang, quickly responds, “I agree. Are you perhaps suspecting me?” This sparks a tense and funny back-and-forth between the two men. Choi Kang, offended, angrily asks, “Do you know who I am? Do I look like the type of person who would cut open a stuffed animal?”

When Kwak Byung Nam shoots back, “How did you know it was cut open?” Choi Kang exasperatedly replies, “Because I just saw it!” The situation escalates before Choi Kang points out a key piece of evidence that shifts the blame—cat fur in the trash, to which he is allergic. The teaser ends by hinting that the real culprit of the poorly disposed trash might be someone else entirely.

Meet the Secret Special Forces Team

While the teaser highlights the main duo, “Heroes Next Door” features a full team of five unique characters, all with hidden military pasts.

Yoon Kye Sang plays Choi Kang, an insurance investigator who is new to the neighborhood. Despite being a former special operations agent, he is known to his neighbors as “the guy who never served,” adding a layer of secret identity to his character.

Jin Sun Kyu is Kwak Byung Nam, the head of the local youth association. He was once a technical specialist soldier, and his observational skills make him deeply suspicious of the new arrival, Choi Kang.

The cast also includes Kim Ji Hyun as supermarket owner Jung Nam Yeon, a former special forces instructor. Ko Kyu Phil plays martial arts center owner Lee Yong Hee, who served in cyber operations. Lee Jung Ha rounds out the team as elite engineering student Park Jung Hwan, a former mortar operator.

This group of ordinary-seeming citizens must tap back into their old skills when a sudden explosion rocks their quiet neighborhood, forcing them to protect their home.

Behind the Scenes and Premiere Date

The production team recently released footage from the drama’s first script reading, showing the cast’s strong chemistry from the start. Director Jo Woong expressed his confidence, noting that “the actors already moved as one team.”

This drama also marks a reunion for Yoon Kye Sang and Jin Sun Kyu, who previously starred together in the 2017 film “The Outlaws.” Their existing chemistry is expected to bring a dynamic and entertaining energy to the series.

“Heroes Next Door“ is set to premiere on November 17 at 10 p.m. KST on the ENA network and Coupang Play.
