The management agency for the popular K-pop group NewJeans is taking strong legal measures against people who post malicious content online. ADOR announced it is filing criminal complaints against individuals who have targeted the group with harmful posts, including fake news, privacy invasion, and derogatory comments.

The agency revealed it has strengthened its monitoring system and is collecting evidence against offenders across multiple online platforms. This legal action comes during a significant period for the group, following recent confirmations that all five NewJeans members will be returning to activities under ADOR.

What ADOR Is Doing Against Malicious Posts

ADOR is taking multiple steps to protect its artists from online harassment. The agency stated it is monitoring domestic and international websites, music platforms, and social media channels around the clock.

The legal action will target malicious content posted on various online communities including Naver News, DC Inside, Instiz, Nate Pann, MLB Park, and Theqoo. The agency emphasized that it responds firmly to violations on overseas-based sites without exception.

The company explained that due to increasing severity of malicious posts, it has deployed additional monitoring staff and is performing thorough evidence collection. ADOR plans to promptly file criminal complaints this month against individuals who have posted harmful content.

Strong Stand Against Deepfake Crimes

ADOR is taking an especially strict position on deepfake crimes targeting NewJeans. The agency revealed that perpetrators involved in deepfake cases have recently requested settlements, but ADOR rejected them and communicated its intention for strict punishment to investigative authorities.

The company is actively cooperating with law enforcement to track and eliminate deepfake crimes targeting its artists. This includes fake videos that use the members’ images without permission, which the agency treats as serious offenses.

NewJeans Members Confirm Return to ADOR

This legal action comes as all five NewJeans members have confirmed their return to the agency after a nearly yearlong legal dispute. The group’s contract validity lawsuit has concluded, with the court affirming the validity of their exclusive contracts with ADOR.

On November 12, ADOR formally announced that members Haerin and Hyein had agreed to honor their exclusive contracts and continue activities with the company. Approximately three hours later, the remaining three membersโ€”Minji, Hanni, and Danielleโ€”issued their own statement through their legal representative, Hanil Law Corporation, expressing their intention to return.

In their joint statement, the three members addressed why their announcement came later than that of Haerin and Hyein, explaining the delay was because “one member is currently in Antarctica.” This sparked speculation among fans, with online communities circulating claims about which member was abroad, though ADOR has not confirmed these details.

ADOR has stated it is currently “coordinating individual meetings” with Minji, Hanni, and Danielle and will work to ensure smooth discussions about their return to group activities.

Industry Context and Fan Reactions

The increased legal action from ADOR coincides with similar moves from other K-pop agencies. Recently, Source Music, the agency managing girl group LE SSERAFIM, and BELIFT LAB, managing ILLIT, have also announced strengthened legal measures against malicious online posts targeting their artists.

Online animosity between some fan communities has been noted since April of last year, when former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin accused HYBE of sidelining NewJeans to promote other groups. These tensions have occasionally resulted in increased malicious posts targeting various artists.

ADOR continues to encourage fans to report any instances of rights infringement through the dedicated “HYBE Report Infringement of Artist Rights” website, acknowledging that fan reports significantly help in their legal response efforts.

The agency concluded its announcement by expressing gratitude for the continued support of NewJeans fans and reaffirming its commitment to protecting the artists: “We are always grateful for your unwavering love and support. We will continue working to ensure that the rights of our artists are fully protected.”
