Ahn Hyo Seop recently opened up about the physical challenges he faced while filming Omniscient Reader: The Prophet. The actor revealed he lost 5-6 kg due to the demanding action sequences required for his role.
Ahn Hyo Seop’s Physical Transformation for the Role
During a press interview in Jongno, Seoul, Ahn Hyo Seop shared how his role as Kim Dok Ja in Omniscient Reader: The Prophet pushed him to his limits. The movie features intense action scenes, including running, wire stunts, and sword fights.
“I was running non-stop, sometimes while carrying a child, sometimes suspended on wires, swinging swords at imaginary creatures,” Ahn Hyo Seop said.
The actor admitted that the physically exhausting scenes caused significant weight loss.
“By the end, I had lost six or seven kilograms,” he revealed.
Despite the challenges, Ahn Hyo Seop expressed pride in his work, calling the experience rewarding.
Why Ahn Hyo Seop Chose This Role
Ahn Hyo Seop plays Kim Dok Ja, an ordinary office worker who becomes the key to saving a collapsing world. The actor was drawn to the character’s relatability.
“What I liked about Dok Ja was his ordinariness. My previous characters have either been larger-than-life or deeply flawed, but Dok Ja isn’t extreme in either way,” he explained.
The role required not just physical endurance but also emotional depth, as the film blends action with survival drama.
The Challenges of Filming Omniscient Reader
The movie, based on the hit web novel “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint”, features large-scale action sequences. Ahn Hyo Seop had to perform many stunts himself, including:

“The film set suited me. Each scene is shot with care, and everyone gives their all toward the same goal. I thought, ‘This is a world I want to be part of. I’m glad I chose acting,’” Ahn Hyo Seop said.
