BABYMONSTER has launched their first world tour, achieving remarkable success just ten months after their debut. Their impressive start at KSPO Dome, a prestigious K-pop venue, signals their potential as the next generation of global stars.
A Stellar Start at KSPO Dome
BABYMONSTER’s concerts at KSPO Dome on January 25th and 26th drew a crowd of over 20,000 fans. According to data from the Korea Performing Arts Integrated Computer Network (KOPIS), the total ticket sales reached 23,499, with 11,113 tickets sold on the 25th and 12,366 on the 26th.
While the calculated seat occupancy rate was 67.8%, based on KSPO Dome’s 15,000 seating capacity, a YG Entertainment official stated, “Since this was BABYMONSTER’s first solo concert, we put a lot of effort into the stage production, so the actual number of available seats differs. However, we cannot disclose the exact seating capacity and adjusted occupancy rate.” This suggests that YG’s internal calculations might reflect a higher occupancy rate.
Even with the publicly available figures, selling over 10,000 tickets per show at KSPO Dome is a significant accomplishment for a rookie group. The venue is known for its top-notch sound system and capacity to hold over 10,000 attendees per show, making it a key indicator of an artist’s popularity and market value. Headlining at KSPO Dome so soon after debuting is considered a rare feat.
The World Tour Continues
Following their successful Seoul concerts, BABYMONSTER’s world tour will span 14 cities with a total of 23 shows. Their upcoming destinations include Newark and Los Angeles in the USA, followed by stops in Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
The industry is watching closely to see if BABYMONSTER will follow in BLACKPINK’s footsteps and become YG Entertainment’s next big global sensation. Their strong start indicates a promising future.
