Beyoncé faced a scary moment during her Cowboy Carter tour stop in Houston when the red car she was riding in malfunctioned and tilted dangerously mid-air. The incident happened on June 28, 2025, at NRG Stadium while she was performing her song “16 Carriages.”

The singer remained calm as the vehicle tilted sharply, holding onto safety cables while telling her crew to “Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop.” The music cut off as the car was slowly lowered to the ground. Beyoncé later returned to the stage, joking with fans, “If ever I fall, I know y’all would catch me.”

What Happened During the Performance

Beyoncé was suspended high above the crowd in a red convertible as part of her “16 Carriages” performance. The car, which usually moves smoothly across the stadium, suddenly tilted to one side, leaving her stuck in the air.

Fans captured the moment on video, showing Beyoncé wearing a safety harness and gripping the car’s cables. She stayed composed, even smiling at the crowd before being safely lowered.

“Omg she scared me. So glad she’s safe and nothing happened!! SOMEBODY GETTING FIRREDDDD,” one fan wrote on TikTok, referencing Beyoncé’s famous “I Am… World Tour” line.

After the car reached the ground, she briefly left the stage before returning to finish the song.

How Beyoncé and Fans Reacted

Despite the frightening situation, Beyoncé kept her cool. She thanked the audience for their patience before continuing the show.

“I want to thank y’all for loving me. If ever I fall, I know y’all will catch me,” she told the cheering crowd.

Her company, Parkwood Entertainment, later confirmed the issue was a “technical mishap” but assured fans no one was hurt.

Past Onstage Mishaps

This isn’t the first time Beyoncé has handled unexpected problems during performances.

  • In 2013, her hair got caught in a fan while singing “Halo” in Montreal. Her bodyguard had to cut her hair free, but she never stopped singing.
  • She was also pranked by Ashton Kutcher on “Punk’d” when a Christmas tree fell during a fake ceremony.

What’s Next for the Cowboy Carter Tour

The Houston show was the first of two stops in her hometown. The tour continues with a Fourth of July performance in Washington, D.C. before wrapping up in Las Vegas on July 26.

Fans online debated whether the flying car stunt should continue after the malfunction.

“OH HELL NO. I KNOW SHE VALUED BEING CLOSER TO THE AUDIENCE A LOT BUT IF THEY CAN’T GUARANTEE THIS WON’T HAPPEN AGAIN IT NEED TO BE CUT,” one fan tweeted.
