The new Netflix crime comedy Big Mistakes started streaming on April 9, 2026. Created by Dan Levy (Schitt’s Creek) and Rachel Sennott (I Love LA), the show follows two siblings who steal a necklace and accidentally enter the world of organized crime.

Dan Levy Plays Nicky The Troubled Priest
Dan Levy stars as Nicky Dardano, a pastor who hides his relationship from his religious community. Levy became a household name for creating and starring in Schitt’s Creek, where he played David Rose for six seasons. That show won nine Emmys during its run, including a best supporting actor win for Levy.
Before acting, Levy started his career as a TV presenter. He worked on MTV Live, The Hills “after show,” and the Canadian version of The Great British Bake Off. Since Schitt’s Creek ended, Levy has appeared in Modern Family, Sex Education, The Idol, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. His film work includes Happiest Season, Disney’s Haunted Mansion, and the Netflix film Good Grief, which he also wrote and directed.
Levy co-created Big Mistakes with Rachel Sennott and serves as showrunner and executive producer.
Taylor Ortega Plays Morgan The Impulsive Sister
Taylor Ortega plays Morgan Dardano, Nicky’s sister who steals the necklace that starts all the trouble. Ortega is a New Jersey-born actress who started in the New York City improv scene.
Succession fans might remember her one-episode role as Greta. She also appeared in the US remake of the British comedy Ghosts, Love Life, and Fox’s Welcome to Flatch. Her film credits include Another Simple Favor, Wine Club, and Disney’s live-action Kim Possible movie where she played the villain Shego.
Ortega originally replaced Rachel Sennott in the role after Sennott had to focus on her HBO show I Love LA.
Laurie Metcalf Plays Mother Linda
Laurie Metcalf plays Linda Dardano, the overbearing mother who runs the family hardware store and runs for mayor. Metcalf is a television legend who won three Emmys for playing Jackie Harris on the classic sitcom Roseanne and its sequel The Conners.
Younger audiences might recognize her Oscar-nominated performance as the mother in Lady Bird (2017). She also played Sheldon’s mother Mary Cooper on The Big Bang Theory and Augusta Gein in the crime drama Monster: The Ed Gein Story. More recently, she played tour manager Weed in HBO’s Hacks, which earned her a fourth Emmy.
Metcalf is also a six-time Tony nominee and two-time winner for her stage work in plays like Misery and A Doll’s House.
Elizabeth Perkins Plays Annette The Powerful Mother
Elizabeth Perkins plays Annette Zofrea, Max’s mother and a powerful real estate agent. Perkins has worked in Hollywood for 40 years. She is best known for playing Celia Hodes in the Showtime crime comedy Weeds.
Her film work includes The Flintstones, Miracle On 34th Street, and voicing Coral in Finding Nemo. More recently, she appeared in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse and The Housemaid. On television, she has played roles in Sharp Objects (earning a Critics’ Choice Award nomination), This Is Us, Glow, Barry, and Minx.
Abby Quinn Plays The Younger Sister Natalie
Abby Quinn plays Natalie, the youngest Dardano sibling who works as her mother’s campaign manager. Horror fans might recognize Quinn from Knock At The Cabin (2023), I’m Thinking Of Ending Things (2020), and Hell Of A Summer.
She also appeared in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women adaptation, the Black Mirror episode “Arkangel,” Better Call Saul, and the 21st century revival of Mad About You.
Mark Ivanir Plays The Russian Mob Boss Ivan
Mark Ivanir plays Ivan, the criminal boss who blackmails the siblings. Ivanir has appeared in over 100 movies and shows. His first major film role was playing corrupt clerk Marcel Goldberg in Schindler’s List (1993).
Between 2015 and 2018, Ivanir had a recurring role as SVR agent Ivan Krupin in the thriller Homeland. His other TV credits include Netflix’s Zero Day, HBO’s Barry, and Amazon’s Transparent. He also appeared in The Terminal and the musical Emilia Perez.
Boran Kuzum Plays The Gangster Yusuf
Boran Kuzum plays Yusuf, the store clerk with mob connections who refuses to sell the necklace. Kuzum is a Turkish actor who has won awards for his stage and screen work in his home country.
His Turkish credits include Wounded Love, Bihter: A Forbidden Passion, and Magnificent Century: Kösem. Before Big Mistakes, he played a role in another Netflix series called Thank You, Next (known as Kimler Geldi, Kimler Geçti in Turkey). Big Mistakes marks his first major American role.
Jack Innanen Plays Morgan’s Boyfriend Max
Jack Innanen plays Max, Morgan’s devoted boyfriend who uses too much therapy speak. Innanen is a Canadian comedian who gained popularity through his viral TikToks in the early 2020s.
Those videos helped him land roles in the Canadian series The Dessert and The Office Movers. He had his breakout role as Paul Baker on FX’s friendship comedy Adults.
Jacob Gutierrez Plays Nicky’s Boyfriend Tareq
Jacob Gutierrez plays Tareq, a local handyman and gay activist who dates Nicky. Gutierrez made his Broadway debut playing the title role in Aladdin in 2018.
His television work includes A Crime To Remember, Bull, and Dear Edward. Big Mistakes is his biggest television role to date.
Joe Barbara Plays Mike
Joe Barbara plays Mike, one of the criminals the siblings encounter. Barbara started his career in the late 1990s on US soap operas like Another World (where he appeared for four years) and All My Children.
More recently, he has acted in FBI and Blue Bloods. He also lent his voice to the Grand Theft Auto video game series, playing crime boss Ray Boccino.
