BIGHIT MUSIC, the agency behind popular K-pop groups BTS and TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT), has issued a serious warning to fans about various fraudulent activities. The notice, released on September 11, 2024, highlights the increasing occurrence of scams involving impersonators and fake offers related to the agency.
Warning Against Impersonators and Scams
BIGHIT MUSIC has recently alerted fans to beware of impersonators posing as their personnel. These fraudsters often attempt to deceive fans by offering cash rewards for reviews or promising other incentives. The agency clarified that such offers are not legitimate and are not made through text messages, personal emails, or social media channels.
“As we continue to receive reports of phishing scams impersonating BIGHIT MUSIC or its personnel from a number of people, we would like to provide an advisory,” BIGHIT MUSIC stated in their notice.
Common Fraudulent Activities
The agency outlined several common scams that fans should be cautious of:
- Impersonation: Fraudsters impersonating BIGHIT MUSIC or its affiliated companies.
- Hiring Reviewers: Offers to hire individuals for writing reviews on albums and other media.
- Buying Reviews: Scams involving the purchase of reviews to increase content visibility.
BIGHIT MUSIC emphasized that they do not offer employment or financial rewards via social media DMs, text messages, or personal emails.
“Nor do we make offers for employment, financial demands or rewards,” the agency added.
Fans are advised to delete any suspicious messages immediately and not engage with them to avoid falling victim to these scams.
Impact of Scams on Fans
With the global expansion of the K-pop industry, scammers have devised new ways to exploit fans through fake job offers and promises of meetings with artists. BIGHIT MUSIC’s advisory aims to protect fans from these deceitful practices.
