A passenger plane arriving at South Jeolla’s Muan Airport crashed, and early reports suggest only two out of the 181 people on board survived.

The Tragic Incident

The crash happened around 9:07 AM on December 29. The plane, flying from Bangkok, skidded off the runway while landing. On board were 175 passengers and 6 crew members. Most of the passengers were Korean, with only two Thai citizens among them.

Emergency teams quickly arrived at the crash site and have been working hard to rescue survivors from the damaged plane. The South Jeolla Fire Department has confirmed 64 deaths so far. They expect the number of deaths to increase.

A representative from the fire department said:

“We are currently checking the passenger manifest and seating chart, but the fuselage is completely damaged, making identification difficult.”

Investigation and Possible Cause

The reason for the crash is still being investigated. However, initial reports indicate that bad weather might have contributed to the accident.

This crash is one of the worst air disasters in South Korea in recent years. The country is in mourning as families wait for news about their loved ones.
