Netflix has announced that Bridgerton Season 4 will premiere in 2026, focusing on Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and his romance with Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha). The news came during Netflix’s 2025 upfront presentation, alongside renewals for Seasons 5 and 6. Fans got a first look at Benedict and Sophie’s meet-cute at a masquerade ball, sparking excitement and some frustration over the long wait.
The upcoming season adapts Julia Quinn’s third book, An Offer From a Gentleman, a Cinderella-inspired tale. Sophie, a maid with a secret past, captures Benedict’s heart at Lady Violet Bridgerton’s ball while disguised as the “Lady in Silver.” Showrunner Jess Brownell teased deeper themes, calling it a mix of fairy-tale romance and harsh reality.
*”What’s striking about Season 4 is the struggle between a proper old-school fairy tale and the actual reality of the world,”* Luke Thompson told Tudum. “True love happens in the middle of that.”
New characters include Sophie’s stepfamily: Lady Araminta Gun (Katie Leung) and her daughters Rosamund (Michelle Mao) and Posy Li (Isabella Wei). Returning cast members include Nicola Coughlan (Penelope), Claudia Jessie (Eloise), and Simone Ashley (Kate).
Filming began in September 2024 and is expected to wrap by April 2025, with post-production extending into 2026. The gap mirrors past seasons, which took 14 months for editing and dubbing.
Fans reacted strongly to the 2026 release date. Some expressed disappointment on social media:
“2026!? You guys can keep it honestly.”
“Two years for eight episodes? This is ridiculous.”
Others remained optimistic:
“The wait is well earned—this show is worth it!”
Netflix also confirmed Bridgerton will run for at least six seasons, adapting most of Quinn’s books. Future seasons may focus on Eloise and Francesca’s love stories.
