The upcoming Fox revival of ‘Baywatch’ has added another key name to its cast. Brooks Nader, the model and reality TV star, has signed on as a series regular for the show scheduled to premiere during the 2026-2027 broadcast season .
The 29-year-old former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover model and ‘Dancing With the Stars’ contestant will play Selene. According to the official character description obtained by multiple outlets, Selene is the sharp-tongued captain of the Zuma Beach lifeguards .
Character Details and Conflict
Selene is described as excellent at her job, but her methods put her at odds with the show’s lead. “While she is excellent at her job, she and Baywatch Captain Hobie Buchannon have a very different approach to saving lives that is a constant source of friction,” the character breakdown states .
The tension between Selene and Hobie escalates as the season progresses. “Never on good terms, their relationship only goes downhill after Hobie brings his daughter Charlie onto his team… and it becomes clear that their rivalry goes much deeper than lifeguarding” .
Nader joins a growing ensemble led by Stephen Amell, who plays Hobie Buchannon. Hobie is the son of the original series’ iconic character Mitch Buchannon, portrayed by David Hasselhoff . The new series picks up years after the original, with Hobie now serving as a Baywatch captain.

The cast also includes Jessica Belkin as Charlie Vale, the daughter Hobie never knew he had who arrives wanting to become a lifeguard . Hassie Harrison, known for her role in ‘Yellowstone,’ plays Nat, a former foster kid turned Olympic athlete and Hobie’s closest friend . Thaddeus LaGrone has been cast as Brad, a former Marine described as a one-man rescue machine .
In a nod to the franchise’s history, original series star David Chokachi reprises his role as Cody Madison. In the reboot, Cody runs The Shoreline bar and grill while still occasionally suiting up for rescues .
The series is created by showrunner Matt Nix (‘Burn Notice’) and executive produced by McG, who will also direct the premiere episode . Other executive producers include Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto and Mike Horowitz . The show is a co-production between Fox Entertainment and Fremantle .
Production Details and Timeline
Fox ordered the series straight-to-series with a 12-episode first season back in September 2025 . Production is scheduled to begin this spring in Los Angeles, filming on location at Venice Beach and on the Fox studio lot in Century City .
The production received a significant boost from the state of California, securing a $21.1 million tax credit that allows the show to film locally . Previous attempts to revive the franchise had considered shooting in South Africa or Australia .
In February, the production held a massive open casting call in Marina del Rey, with 14,000 people submitting reels and headshots. Only 2,000 were invited to audition in person for various roles including lifeguards, barflies and extras.
