A new documentary about BTS fans, called Forever We Are Young, will release in theaters worldwide on July 30, 2025. The film focuses on ARMY, the global fanbase of the K-pop group BTS, and how they helped the band become one of the biggest music acts in history.
Tickets for the movie will be available starting July 2 on the official website btsarmymovie.com. The documentary had its first showing at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas, where it received strong praise from audiences.
Forever We Are Young is directed by Grace Lee and Patty Ahn, two award-winning filmmakers. The movie explores how ARMY grew into a powerful, diverse community that supports BTS with creativity and passion. Fans from different countries, including the U.S., South Korea, and Mexico, share their stories in the film.
“There is no BTS without ARMY and no ARMY without BTS,” said the directors in a statement. The documentary highlights fan-led projects, like dance groups and online campaigns, that helped BTS break records worldwide.
BTS, a seven-member group from South Korea, debuted in 2013 and has since topped charts in the U.S. and other countries. Their fanbase, ARMY, has over 90 million members and is known for its strong unity and social activism. The film shows how fans turned BTS into a global phenomenon through hard work and dedication.
The documentary also features events like ReactorCon in Texas, where fans gather to celebrate BTS, and dance classes in Seoul that teach the group’s choreography. It includes interviews with longtime fans who have supported BTS since their early days.
“We’re excited for audiences to go on an emotional journey and meet a fandom that made us laugh, cry, and think,” said co-director Patty Ahn. The film has already been shown at festivals in Copenhagen, Mexico City, and Los Angeles, with many fans reacting positively.
Some theaters will offer special BTS-themed merchandise, like posters, during the release. The movie is produced by Trafalgar Releasing, the same company behind previous BTS concert films.
This is not the first film about BTS, but it is the first to focus entirely on their fans. Past movies, like Burn the Stage: The Movie and Bring the Soul: The Movie, centered on the band’s concerts and behind-the-scenes moments.
BTS has won many awards, including Grammy nominations and Billboard Music Awards. Their fans have played a major role in their success by organizing streaming parties, charity projects, and social media trends.
