The global sensation BTS has achieved another remarkable feat by becoming the first group of Asian origin and the only K-pop act to cross 3.8 billion streams on Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform.

BTS’s unstoppable rise to the top

BTS, also known as Bangtan Sonyeondan or Beyond the Scene, is a seven-member South Korean boy band that debuted in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment. Since then, they have risen to unprecedented heights of fame and popularity, breaking numerous records and barriers in the music industry.

BTS is widely recognized for their diverse musical style, meaningful lyrics, charismatic performances, and social messages. They have won multiple awards and honors, including four Billboard Music Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, a Grammy nomination, and a place on Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world.

BTS has also been praised for their positive impact on society, especially among the younger generation. They have been involved in various philanthropic and humanitarian causes, such as the UNICEF Love Myself campaign, the UN Speak Yourself speech, and the Connect, BTS global art project.

BTS’s domination on Spotify

Spotify is the most popular music streaming service in the world, with over 365 million active users and 70 million tracks. Spotify allows users to discover, listen, and share music across different genres, languages, and regions.

BTS has been one of the most successful and influential artists on Spotify, attracting millions of fans and listeners from all over the world. BTS has over 40 million monthly listeners and 31 million followers on Spotify, making them the fourth most followed artist and the most followed group on the platform.

BTS has also achieved impressive milestones on Spotify, such as:

  • The most streamed male group of all time, with over 31.9 billion streams as of March 2023.
  • The most streamed group in 2021, with over 10.6 billion streams.
  • The most streamed K-pop artist of all time, with over 3.8 billion streams as of February 2024.
  • The only K-pop artist to have three songs with over 1 billion streams each: Dynamite, Butter, and Boy With Luv (feat. Halsey).
  • The only K-pop artist to have 12 songs with over 100 million streams each in 2021.
  • The only K-pop artist to have two albums with over 1 billion streams each: Map of the Soul: 7 and BE.

BTS’s latest achievements and future plans

BTS is not showing any signs of slowing down, as they continue to release new music and content for their fans, known as ARMY. In 2021, BTS released three singles: Butter, Permission to Dance, and My Universe (with Coldplay), all of which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the Spotify Global Top 50 chart.

BTS also performed at various events and shows, such as the MTV Unplugged, the Grammy Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, the MTV Video Music Awards, and the Global Citizen Live. BTS also held their first online concert of the year, BTS MAP OF THE SOUL ON:E, which attracted over 990,000 viewers from 191 countries.

In 2022, BTS is expected to release their fifth Korean studio album, which will be the final installment of their Map of the Soul series. BTS is also planning to resume their world tour, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and meet their fans in person again.

BTS has proven that they are a force to be reckoned with in the global music scene, and they are not afraid to challenge themselves and explore new horizons. With their unparalleled talent, passion, and dedication, BTS is sure to achieve even more success and recognition in the future.
