BTS member Jin shared his honest feelings about performing duets with artists outside the group. Despite his discomfort, fans are praising his collaboration with YENA on the track Loser from his solo album Echo.
Jin recently appeared in a behind-the-scenes video for Loser, where he discussed the difficulties of singing with someone other than his BTS bandmates. The video, released by BIGHIT MUSIC, showed Jin rehearsing and reflecting on his collaboration with YENA. He admitted feeling awkward but committed to doing his best.
“It feels a bit awkward singing with people that aren’t the members. I’ve worked with the members for at least a decade,” Jin said. “I can’t help but respect people that do duets. For me… It’s difficult when I hear someone else’s voice.” He added that matching another artist’s vocal tone can be challenging but emphasized his dedication to improving.
Despite Jin’s hesitation, Loser has become a fan favorite. The song blends Jin’s smooth vocals with YENA’s energetic delivery, creating a dynamic contrast. Fans have flooded social media with praise for their chemistry.
Echo, Jin’s second solo album, was released on May 16, 2025. The seven-track project includes emotional ballads, pop-rock anthems, and introspective lyrics. The lead single, Don’t Say You Love Me, features actress Shin Se Kyung in a romantic music video. The album explores themes of love, self-reflection, and personal growth.
