BTS’s V and Jungkook File ₩90.0 Million KRW Lawsuit Against YouTuber Sojang

On August 16, Star News reported that V and Jungkook had initiated a lawsuit against Park, seeking approximately ₩90.0 million KRW (around $66,100 USD) in damages. This legal battle will commence with the first trial scheduled on August 23 in the Civil Division 12 of the Seoul Western District Court, marking five months since the initial filing of the lawsuit.

BIGHIT MUSIC’s Legal Actions and Reopened Investigation

In a prior notice, BIGHIT MUSIC, the agency representing BTS, explicitly named the Sojang YouTube channel, revealing that they had lodged a complaint against the creator for defamation and obstruction of business. Initially, the investigation into these allegations was suspended, but BIGHIT MUSIC later collected additional evidence against Park and provided it to the authorities, which led to the reopening of the case. The agency has continued to pursue legal action on behalf of V and Jungkook.

V’s Response to Malicious Videos

V has been particularly vocal about the malicious content created by Sojang. He previously posted a screenshot of one of the offensive videos on Weverse, announcing his intent to pursue legal action and humorously stating that he would “earn some snack money” from the lawsuit.

“I’m going to take legal action and earn some snack money,”
V wrote on Weverse.

Other Artists Take Legal Action Against Sojang

The Sojang channel has been the target of multiple lawsuits from various K-Pop artists, not just BTS. IVE’s Wonyoung and her agency Starship Entertainment were successful in unmasking the real identity of Park. Following Wonyoung’s lawsuit, prosecutors even froze a significant portion of Park’s assets, indicating the serious legal consequences faced by the YouTuber.
