BTS member V has solidified his status as a global sensation with the overwhelming success of his solo album, Layover. The vinyl version of the album has sold out multiple times across key markets like the United Kingdom, United States, and Japan, showcasing his immense popularity.
Vinyl Version Sells Out in the UK
On October 18, the vinyl edition of Layover quickly sold out across various UK retailers, including the BTS Official UK Store, Record Store UK, Polydor, and The Sound of Vinyl. The album sold out in record time, marking its second sell-out after its initial pre-order run. Pre-orders opened on August 20 and sold out by September 1, indicating strong demand before the album even became widely available.
By October 19, more UK retailers, such as Horizons Music, Hive, WHSmith, SOKOLLAB, and Kyyo, also reported that the vinyl edition had sold out. This brings the total to nine stores in the UK alone that were unable to keep up with the high demand for Layover.
US Market Also Sees Rapid Sellouts
The US market experienced a similar phenomenon, with the Layover vinyl consistently topping the sales charts. On October 18, the album sold out at Barnes & Noble’s online store, adding to earlier sell-outs in late September and early October at major retailers like the BTS USA Official Store, Weverse Official US Store, Target, Tower Records, and Elusive Disc.
At Target, the album has sold out three times, further highlighting V’s popularity. Additionally, Layover has ranked as the #1 bestseller on platforms like Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy in the United States, demonstrating its strong foothold in one of the world’s largest music markets.
Japanese Fans Snap Up Vinyl Editions
The situation in Japan mirrored that of the US and UK. The vinyl version of Layover sold out within a day of pre-orders being opened at the BTS Official Japan Store and Universal Music Japan. Even after multiple restocks, the album continued to sell out, consistently ranking at the top of Japanese music charts. It reached #1 on Oricon’s Daily Album Chart and dominated Amazon Japan’s Imported Albums ranking.
In addition to success in Japan, Layover also topped the real-time bestseller charts in South Korea. It claimed the top spot in the CD/LP category on Yes24 and ranked as the overall bestseller on Aladdin, proving that V’s influence extends across Asia as well.
V’s vinyl release of Layover continues to make waves internationally, reflecting his powerful global fanbase and impact as a solo artist.
