Actor Byeon Woo Seok took home the Favorite Global Trending Music award at the 2024 MAMA Awards, held on November 23 at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan. The event, which is part of a two-chapter series, celebrated K-pop and Korean entertainment achievements across two days, with the first chapter taking place in Los Angeles.

Byeon Woo Seok’s Heartfelt Speech

Upon receiving the award, Byeon Woo Seok, who gained immense popularity for his role in the hit drama Lovely Runner, expressed his gratitude. He said,

“I am truly thankful to the ‘Lovely Runner’ team for helping me deliver a great song despite being an actor.”

He also thanked his fans, as well as the hair and makeup team who supported him throughout his journey. Speaking to his fanbase, known as Mailbox, he added,

“Thank you, and I love you.”

Recognition for His Role in Lovely Runner

In Lovely Runner, Byeon Woo Seok played Ryu Seon Jae, a member of the fictional band Eclipse. His song “Shower” from the drama became a massive hit, topping both domestic and international music charts. The success of the drama and its soundtrack significantly boosted Byeon’s career, landing him endorsement deals with 19 major brands, including high-end luxury labels. These deals are estimated to have brought in over 10 billion won (around $7.3 million USD) in advertising revenue.

Byeon Woo Seok also took a moment to recognize his fellow actors in Lovely Runner, especially the cast of the fictional band Eclipse. He shouted,

“In Hyuk, Hyun Soo, Jae—our team won an award! This has been Eclipse.”
