Crunchyroll has officially brought its digital manga service to India, giving anime fans in the country access to more than 250 English-language manga titles through a brand-new subscription tier called Ultimate Fan. The service launched on Thursday, October 8, 2026, and is available on iOS, Android, and the web in localized English.
The announcement was made by Crunchyroll President Rahul Purini during the closing remarks of the company’s inaugural Crunchyroll Anime Future Forum in New York City. India is among 11 new markets where the service has become available, alongside the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
What Does the Ultimate Fan Membership Cost in India
The Ultimate Fan membership is the only way to access Crunchyroll Manga in India. It is priced at ₹299 per month or ₹999 annually. The plan combines access to Crunchyroll’s anime streaming catalogue with the new manga library, allowing subscribers to read and watch on the same platform.
The membership supports streaming on up to 6 devices simultaneously. Readers can also use features like offline reading, full two-page spreads, personalised reading lists, and curated recommendations. The entire manga experience is ad-free.
Crunchyroll already offers two other subscription tiers in India — the Fan plan at ₹79 per month and the Mega Fan plan at ₹99 per month — but manga access is not included in those tiers.

The launch library features more than 250 titles from publishers J-Novel Club, Square Enix, and Yen Press. The initial line-up includes several series that Indian anime fans already know from their screen adaptations.

Why Crunchyroll Chose India for This Launch
India stands out as one of the strongest markets for digital manga reading. Crunchyroll shared data showing that 81% of Indian anime fans read digital manga at least once a month, while 56% read it weekly. Across 11 markets surveyed globally, 69% of anime viewers read digital manga monthly or more. Crunchyroll users were also found to be 1.4 times more likely than non-users to read manga weekly.
“For years, fans have asked us to bring manga closer to their Crunchyroll experience, and we are excited to make that a reality for more fans around the world. Expanding into new territories and languages is an important step toward making Crunchyroll an even more complete home for anime fans everywhere.” — Asa Suehira, Chief Content Officer, Crunchyroll
Crunchyroll first launched its manga service in the United States and Canada in October 2025. Since then, the library has grown to more than 450 titles from publishers including Kodansha, Shueisha, VIZ Media, and Yen Press.
How to Read Manga on Crunchyroll in India
The service is powered by Link-U Group, a Japanese company that specialises in digital manga platforms. Crunchyroll recently made a minor investment in the company.
Readers in India can access the manga library through the Crunchyroll app on iOS and Android, or through a web browser. The service is fully localized in English. The launch gives Indian fans a single destination where they can read manga and stream anime adaptations of the same stories.
