Fans of the Man Without Fear can mark their calendars. Marvel Studios has officially announced that Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will premiere on Disney+ on March 4, 2026. This new chapter will continue the story directly from the first season and is confirmed to be part of Marvel’s Phase Six. The show was already renewed for a third season, signaling strong confidence in its future.
Confirmed Release and Production Timeline
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has a firm release date of March 4, 2026. The season will consist of eight episodes. Production for this season started in late February 2025 and was completed in July 2025. The series is being developed under Marvel Studios’ own Marvel Television label.
The new season is the first to be developed entirely after a major creative overhaul of the series partway through the initial production. The original plan for an 18-episode first season was split into two separate seasons, with the upcoming eight-episode run being written from the ground up with a more focused vision.
Returning Cast and New Allies
The series brings back the core actors that fans love. Charlie Cox returns as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, and Vincent D’Onofrio is back as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, who is now the Mayor of New York City.
They are joined by many returning faces from the first season and the original Netflix series, including:
- Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page
- Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher
- Wilson Bethel as Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter/Bullseye
- Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson (likely in flashbacks)
- Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk
A major highlight for fans is the return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones. Ritter mentioned that stepping back into the role felt like no time had passed. Charlie Cox described the dynamic between their characters, stating that Jones is an antihero and that she and Murdock have a mutual respect despite their differing opinions.
The cast also includes Margarita Levieva, Nikki M. James, Genneya Walton, Clark Johnson, and Michael Gandolfini. Newcomer Matthew Lillard joins the cast in the role of Mr. Charles, described as an influential power player who becomes a new antagonist for Fisk at the level of “politics and international diplomacy.”
Story and Setting: A Resistance Tale
The second season picks up after the dramatic events of the first season’s finale, which saw Kingpin declaring martial law in New York. The core of the new season will be a “resistance tale.” With Wilson Fisk firmly in control of the city as its mayor, Matt Murdock must go completely underground and build a team to fight back.
Director Aaron Moorhead described the premise, saying:
The board is completely set in which Mayor Fisk has now become Kingpin again, but with New York in his grasp, and then there’s this vigilante thing that now has to go completely underground. So that’s where we start, and we’re going to unfold all of that very, very quickly. It’s a resistance tale.
This will put Daredevil and his allies, including Jessica Jones and Karen Page, in direct opposition to Fisk’s power structure. Writer Jesse Wigutow teased that the season is “a very big muscular season that revolves around Fisk in office as mayor” and involves a lot of political and palace intrigue. He also hinted that despite the large canvas of New York City, the story ultimately boils down to the central, hateful but interdependent relationship between Daredevil and Kingpin.
Behind-the-Scenes Creative Team
The series is led by showrunner Dario Scardapane, who previously worked on Netflix’s The Punisher. The directing duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, known for their work on Moon Knight and Loki, are the lead directors for the season, helming the first two episodes. Additional directors include Solvan Naim, Iain B. MacDonald, and Angela Barnes.
Producer Sana Amanat has teased that the action in the second season is “nonstop,” and that the crew is “crushing it.” She also hinted at a “slightly different kind of New York” as the backdrop for the new episodes.
Streaming Information
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will be available to stream exclusively on Disney+. The series carries a TV-MA rating, consistent with the mature tone of the original Netflix series. All episodes of the first season are currently available on the platform for viewers who need to catch up.
