K-Drama fans have a new romantic comedy to look forward to in the new year. Dasom is sharing details about her charming role in the upcoming show “Positively Yours,” where she plays the confident best friend who isn’t afraid to go after what she wants. The drama promises laughs, love, and a story about plans changing when you least expect it.
Based on a hit webtoon, the series tells the story of two people who never planned to marry. Their lives are turned upside down after a single night together leads to an unexpected pregnancy. The show stars Choi Jin-hyuk and Oh Yeon-seo as the lead couple, with Hong Jong-hyun and Dasom playing their close friends. Ahead of its premiere, Dasom opened up about why she chose the project, the fun she’s having on set, and what makes her character, Hwang Mi-ran, so special.

From Webtoon to Screen: The Story Behind “Positively Yours”
The drama is an adaptation of a popular Naver Webtoon titled “Positively Yours,” which was originally created by writer Lee Jung. The screen adaptation is being handled by writer So Hae-won, with director Kim Jin-seong leading the production.
The story focuses on Jang Hui-won (Oh Yeon-seo), a highly successful manager at a liquor company who has focused entirely on her career. After seeing her parents’ difficult divorce, she has sworn off marriage and serious relationships. Her boss, Kang Du-joon (Choi Jin-hyuk), is the heir to the family business. He also carries personal pain from his past and has made a similar vow to never marry. A one-night stand between these two commitment-phobic people results in a pregnancy, forcing them to completely rethink their lives and their feelings about love.
This “reverse” situationโstarting a relationship with a baby instead of ending with oneโis what makes the premise unique. Choi Jin-hyuk, who plays Du-joon, described the show as a warm story about “wounded people healing each other”.
Dasom on Playing the Honest and Bold Hwang Mi-ran
In the drama, Dasom takes on the role of Hwang Mi-ran, the loyal best friend and colleague of the female lead, Hui-won. Mi-ran works as a manager at the luxurious Taehan Hotel and is known as Hui-won’s reliable “drinking buddy” and a sister-like figure. While Dasom sees some similarities between herself and her character, she points out one key difference.
“I have a friend like Hui Won as well. In that sense, I think my similarity with Mi Ran is quite high,” Dasom shared. “But unlike me, Mi Ran is unapologetically honest, sometimes bold, and expresses her emotions confidently.”
This boldness is central to Mi-ran’s role in the story. Early teasers show her giving Hui-won modern dating advice, telling her to ditch old-fashioned thinking about long courtships. Her confidence shines brightest when she meets Cha Min-uk (Hong Jong-hyun), Hui-won’s best friend of 15 years. Mi-ran is immediately drawn to his kind nature and doesn’t hesitate to make her interest known.
Dasom says these are the scenes she’s most excited for fans to see. “Those scenes really highlight Mi Ranโs honest and confident personality,” she said about Mi-ran’s forward pursuit of Min-uk. In recently released posters, Mi-ran is seen asking Min-uk directly, “Cha Min-wook, do you want to go out with me?”.
Star-Studded Cast and Their On-Screen Chemistry
The main cast of “Positively Yours” brings together well-known actors, each with a character that adds a different flavor to the story.
- Choi Jin-hyuk as Kang Du-joon: The charismatic yet lonely CEO who believes he must live for his family’s company and has closed off his heart to love.
- Oh Yeon-seo as Jang Hui-won: A talented career woman who is a “total ace” at work but feels completely lost when it comes to matters of the heart.
- Hong Jong-hyun as Cha Min-uk: Hui-won’s long-time best friend who begins to realize his feelings for her might be more than just friendship, creating a complicated love triangle.
- Dasom as Hwang Mi-ran: The bright, positive, and straightforward friend who shakes up the dynamic by openly pursuing Min-uk.
The chemistry among the cast appears to be a major strength. Choi Jin-hyuk did not hold back when praising his co-star, Oh Yeon-seo, rating their on-screen chemistry a perfect “100 out of 100”. He credited her bright energy and skilled acting with helping him bring his character to life more naturally.
Dasom also highlighted the positive atmosphere on set, naming Oh Yeon-seo as the real mood-maker during filming. “She has so much energy and laughter that whenever we film together, everyone ends up smiling and having fun,” Dasom said, hinting at their strong off-screen friendship.
