The hunt for a missing girl reaches a boiling point in the latest episode of Apple TV’s thriller, Down Cemetery Road.” Titled “Neglected Waters,” the sixth episode raises the stakes as every major character converges on a mysterious location in Scotland. The search for Dinah pushes a private investigator, a determined neighbor, and a former soldier into a final, dangerous race against a ruthless government operative.

Amos Crane Becomes an Unstoppable Threat

The episode confirms Amos Crane as the series’ most unpredictable and dangerous force. His pursuit of investigator Zoë Boehm on a train to Scotland takes a vicious turn. After Zoë cleverly evades him by hiding with an elderly couple and then in an unused train compartment, Amos changes his strategy. He starts a fire to force an evacuation and get Zoë into the open.

Instead of continuing a direct chase, Amos executes a cruel plan to frame Zoë. He kidnaps and kills the elderly couple who had unknowingly helped her, plants a photo of them with Zoë at the scene, and alerts the police. This move successfully makes Zoë the prime suspect for murder across Scotland, allowing Amos to continue his mission while the police hunt her down. This act removes any doubt about his morality, painting him as a purely evil character willing to do anything to achieve his goals.

A Government Cover-Up Tightens Its Grip

Away from the action, the government conspiracy deepens. The official known as C meets with his subordinate, Hamza, and issues a new, desperate order. With operative Amos no longer under control and the ministry’s secrets leaking, C commands Hamza to go to Scotland and eliminate the “loose ends”—specifically, both Amos and the former soldier Downey.

C gives Hamza a gun and a shoot-on-sight order, sending him off in a helicopter to clean up the mess.

C’s own position grows shakier in a meeting with the new Minister of Defence, Talia. During a speech rehearsal, Talia makes it clear she is aware of institutional corruption and the illegal chemical tests that killed Downey’s comrades. She offers C a chance to confess, but he refuses, choosing to protect his secrets at any cost.

Downey and Sarah Push Forward Separately

The partnership between Downey and Sarah hits a snag. After a quiet moment sharing a drink by a campfire in the forest, Downey makes a difficult choice. While Sarah sleeps, he leaves her behind and continues the journey alone. This is not an act of abandonment but one of protection. Downey, whose health is failing due to the experimental drugs he was given, is on what he believes is a suicide mission. He does not want Sarah, who is healthier and less connected to Dinah, to throw her life away.

Despite his efforts, Sarah proves her determination. She wakes to find him gone and, after a moment of distress, gathers herself and finds her way to the nearby village of Firinn. It is here that she unexpectedly crosses paths with Zoë Boehm, who has also just arrived following her own harrowing escape from Amos.

The Final Race Begins

The episode’s final act sets the stage for a major confrontation. By comparing maps, Zoë and Sarah discover a critical clue: the Scottish island they believe holds Dinah has been deliberately removed from all modern maps. This hidden location is likely the abandoned military base where Downey and his unit were once held and experimented on.

With this knowledge, the race to the island begins in earnest. Zoë and Sarah hijack a ferry to head toward the hidden location. Downey, having gone ahead, steals a boat to approach the island alone. Amos uses the tracking device he planted in Dinah’s teddy bear to speed across the water directly to her. Hamza is also en route, descending on the scene by helicopter with orders to kill. The episode ends with all parties heading toward the isolated island, where the season’s major secrets and the fate of Dinah are expected to be revealed.
