The timing of this teaser launch comes as Awarapan 2 maintains a strong presence in theatres. The sequel, which released on August 14 during the Independence Day weekend, has already collected approximately ₹192.80 crore worldwide within its first 10 days. The film is now closing in on the ₹200 crore milestone globally.

‘Gunmaaster G9’ Teaser Gets Digital and Theatrical Release

The Gunmaaster G9 teaser will first arrive online, giving audiences an early look at the film. Following the digital release, the teaser will also be screened in theatres playing Yash’s upcoming film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups.

The teaser will not be attached to the print of Toxic. Instead, it will be shown separately before the main feature begins. This strategy allows the Gunmaaster G9 team to reach a wide audience, as Toxic is expected to attract large crowds to cinemas.

Directed by Aditya Datt, Gunmaaster G9 is an action-romance that brings together Emraan Hashmi, Genelia D’Souza, and Aparshakti Khurana in lead roles. The film also introduces newcomer Abhishek Singh. The music for the project has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya.

Gunmaaster G9 is produced by Deepak Mukut, Hunar Mukut, and Sangeeta Ahir, and presented by Soham Rockstar Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 27, 2026.

‘Awarapan 2’ Continues Strong Box Office Run

Awarapan 2 has emerged as one of the biggest success stories of 2026. The film, directed by Nitin Kakkar, brings back Emraan Hashmi as Shiv Pandit, a character he first played 19 years ago in the 2007 cult classic.

The sequel also features Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, and other supporting cast members. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the film has found strong support from audiences.

The box office numbers tell a clear story of success. On its second Saturday, Awarapan 2 recorded a 43% jump in collections, earning Rs 8.25 crore net in India. The film’s India net collection has reached Rs 127.50 crore, while the India gross stands at Rs 152.11 crore. Overseas markets have also contributed significantly, with total overseas gross reaching Rs 28.80 crore.

The film’s total worldwide gross now stands at approximately ₹192.80 crore. It needs just over ₹7 crore to cross the ₹200 crore mark globally.

A Remarkable Comeback for Emraan Hashmi

Awarapan 2 has become Emraan Hashmi’s highest-grossing solo film. The sequel has generated an estimated profit of nearly 215% within just 10 days, surpassing the profit percentage of his first superhit Murder (2004), which had recorded a 200% profit.

The original Awarapan, released in 2007 and directed by Mohit Suri, had underperformed theatrically, earning just Rs 7.50 crore net in India. However, the film went on to achieve cult status over the years, with its music playing a major role in its enduring popularity. Songs like Tera Mera Rishta and Toh Phir Aao became fan favourites and have been recreated for the sequel.

“Emraan Hashmi is officially stepping back into the shoes of Shivam Pandit.”

Awarapan 2 released alongside Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947 on August 14 and has emerged as the clear winner of the box office clash. While Emraan Hashmi’s film races towards the ₹200 crore mark, Batwara 1947 has struggled, earning Rs 35.50 crore net in India in its first eight days.

Awarapan 2 has also climbed higher on the list of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2026, surpassing Welcome To The Jungle (Rs 137.93 crore) to become the fifth highest-grossing Bollywood film of the year.

What to Expect from ‘Gunmaaster G9’

Details about the plot of Gunmaaster G9 remain limited for now. The teaser, set to release on August 25, will provide the first proper look at Emraan Hashmi’s character and the world of the film.

The film brings together a mix of established performers. Genelia D’Souza and Aparshakti Khurana join Emraan Hashmi in lead roles, while newcomer Abhishek Singh makes his acting debut with this project.

The decision to release the teaser both digitally and in theatres shows the makers’ confidence in the project. With Yash’s Toxic expected to draw large audiences, the theatrical screening of the Gunmaaster G9 teaser gives the film significant visibility months before its own release.

Gunmaaster G9 will arrive in theatres on November 27, 2026, the same day as Yeh Prem Mol Liya, directed by Sooraj Barjatya and starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari. This sets up a box office clash between two very different films.

For Emraan Hashmi, the success of Awarapan 2 has brought renewed attention from audiences. After a period where several of his theatrical releases struggled to make a substantial impact, the actor is now enjoying one of his strongest box office runs in years. With Gunmaaster G9 lined up for release later this year, he is looking to build on that momentum.
