The Addams family is getting a new, yet familiar, face. Award-winning actress Eva Green has been officially cast as Aunt Ophelia in the upcoming third season of the hit Netflix series Wednesday. This confirmation follows a major cliffhanger in the Season 2 finale that revealed Morticia’s long-lost sister is very much alive.
Green is known for her roles in Casino Royale and Penny Dreadful, and she has previously collaborated with Wednesday executive producer Tim Burton on Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Dark Shadows. The Season 2 finale, however, unveiled the shocking truth: Hester has been secretly keeping Ophelia locked in a cell beneath her mansion. The finale’s closing scene showed Ophelia from behind, writing a chilling message on her cell wall in blood: “Wednesday must die.”
