Popular Kannada actor Rakshit Shetty and his production company Paramvah Studio are facing legal troubles following allegations of copyright infringement in their recent film, ‘Bachelor Party’. An FIR has been lodged against Shetty and his production house for purportedly using songs from other films without obtaining the necessary permissions.

According to a report by Asianet, the complaint centers around the unauthorized use of songs ‘Omme Ninnannu’ and ‘Nyaya Ellide’ in ‘Bachelor Party’. These tracks, originally copyrighted by Naveen Kumar, were allegedly utilized in the movie without Kumar’s consent. Despite previous unsuccessful attempts by Kumar to negotiate with Shetty’s team regarding the usage rights, the songs were reportedly incorporated into the film.

Kumar, in his formal complaint filed at the Yeshwantpur police station, asserted ownership of the copyrighted songs and highlighted that no permission had been sought by Shetty’s production house prior to their inclusion in ‘Bachelor Party’. Subsequently, the authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter, issuing a notice to Rakshit Shetty as part of the legal proceedings.

This incident isn’t the first time Rakshit Shetty has been embroiled in accusations of plagiarism. Previously, he faced similar allegations concerning the unauthorized use of a tune in his film ‘Kirik Party’, which was attributed to Hamsalekha.

‘Bachelor Party’, released in March 2024, marked another venture by Rakshit Shetty as a producer. The film, which explores themes of dissatisfaction with career and marital life, features actors Diganth, Achyut Kumar, and Yogesh in prominent roles. While receiving a varied response from both critics and audiences alike, the movie underscored Shetty’s ongoing presence in the Kannada film industry.

On the professional front, Rakshit Shetty’s recent acting credits include ‘Sapta Saagaradaache Ello’. However, he is set to return to the screen in ‘Richard Anthony: Lord of the Sea’, a film where he assumes the dual role of actor and director.
