The popular Korean drama Flex X Cop is officially returning for a second season in 2026, with a major new partnership at its heart. Ahn Bo Hyun will be back as the flashy chaebol detective, but this time he will be working alongside award-winning actress Jung Eun Chae as his new boss and former teacher. The series creators announced the news on December 3, 2025, confirming that the core team from the hit first season is returning to bring back more action and humor.

The drama’s first season followed the unlikely partnership between Jin Yi Soo (Ahn Bo Hyun), a wealthy and immature heir who becomes a detective, and the serious, hard-working team leader Lee Kang Hyun (Park Ji Hyun). For the new season, the character of Lee Kang Hyun will not be returning due to the actress’s scheduling conflicts. Instead, a new dynamic is set to begin with a character from Jin Yi Soo’s past.

The New Dynamic: From Academy Foe to Police Partner

In Flex X Cop Season 2, Ahn Bo Hyun’s character, Jin Yi Soo, returns to the Gangha Police Station’s Violent Crimes Unit after finishing his formal training at the police academy. His return, however, comes with a twist. The new leader of his team is none other than Joo Hye Ra, the very instructor known for her tough, no-nonsense approach during his academy days.

Jung Eun Chae will play Joo Hye Ra, a former elite officer from the National Police Agency’s counter-terrorism unit who chooses to lead the Violent Crimes Unit. This sets up a complex relationship where Jin Yi Soo must now report directly to the person who was once his “devil instructor”. The production team suggests this will lead to a chaotic but exciting new partnership, blending conflict and comedy as the two very different detectives clash and collaborate.

The production team of “Flex X Cop” shared, “We are preparing thoroughly to deliver an even more exciting and thrilling Season 2 to repay the love Season 1 received. Please look forward to the exhilarating investigations of Jin Yi Soo and the returning Violent Crimes Unit 1.”

Returning Cast and Creative Team for a Hit Formula

The return of Ahn Bo Hyun ensures continuity for fans who loved his portrayal of the unconventional detective. In Season 1, Jin Yi Soo used his vast family wealth, social connections, and unique skills to solve cases in ways traditional police could not. Season 2 will continue this “flex investigation” style, now testing it against the strict, by-the-book methods of his new superior.

The new season will also see the return of the key creative forces behind the show’s initial success. Director Kim Jae Hong and writer Kim Ba Da, who crafted the distinct tone of the first season, are confirmed to be leading Season 2. This reunion increases expectations that the sequel will maintain the same mix of sharp comedy, character-driven story, and fast-paced crime-solving that made the original a hit.

Flex X Cop is part of a successful group of SBS dramas known for delivering satisfying stories where justice wins. It belongs to what fans call the network’s “cider universe,” joining other popular titles like “The Fiery Priest,” “Taxi Driver,” and “One Dollar Lawyer”. The first season of Flex X Cop achieved strong viewership, peaking at an 11 percent rating.

Jung Eun Chae: A Powerful Addition to the Cast

The casting of Jung Eun Chae is seen as a major development for the new season. She is an acclaimed actress known for taking on complex roles in high-profile projects. Audiences may recognize her from the global Apple TV+ series “Pachinko” or from her lead role in the psychological drama “Anna”.

Her upcoming role as the sharp and charismatic Team Leader Joo Hye Ra is considered a perfect fit for her acting style. Reports describe her character as having a powerful presence, even pursuing suspects on a motorcycle, which promises to add a new energy to the investigations. Her character’s background as a counter-terrorism ace suggests she will be a highly capable but demanding leader for Jin Yi Soo.

Before joining Flex X Cop, Jung Eun Chae was first reported to be in talks for the role in October 2025. Her casting was met with positive reactions, as fans are eager to see the chemistry between her disciplined character and Ahn Bo Hyun’s more playful detective.

The drama will be produced by the same companies behind Season 1: Studio S, Big Ocean E&M, and BA Entertainment. Filming for Flex X Cop Season 2 is expected to begin in early 2026.
