After a dramatic season finale that left fans on a cliffhanger, the missing-persons drama Found will not be returning for a third season. NBC canceled the series, and attempts to find it a new home on another network or streaming service have been unsuccessful.

The show followed Shanola Hampton as Gabi Mosely, a crisis manager who leads a team dedicated to finding missing people often overlooked by the system. The series was unique for its chilling premise: Gabi secretly held her former kidnapper, Hugh “Sir” Evans, played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar, in her basement, using his criminal mind to help solve cases.

Why Found Was Canceled

The decision to end the series was made by NBC in May 2025, just before the show’s second season finale aired. The cancellation was part of a larger programming shift at the network, which also saw several other shows end.

A primary reason for the cancellation was declining ratings. While the show started strong with 10.5 million viewers for its premiere, the number of viewers gradually decreased over time. NBC also needed to make room in its schedule for a new NBA programming deal, which requires a significant amount of primetime airtime.

The Search for a New Home

For a short time after the cancellation, there was hope that Found could be saved. The production company, Warner Bros. Television, explored moving the show to another platform, such as a streaming service. However, this effort did not succeed. By July 2025, it was confirmed that the “shopping process” for the show was over and no new home was found.

This means that the season two finale, which aired on May 15, 2025, now serves as the unexpected series finale.

The Season 2 Cliffhanger

The final episode left several major storylines unresolved, making the cancellation particularly tough for fans. The finale featured a stunning public confession from Gabi Mosely, who admitted to holding Sir captive. Meanwhile, Sir was discovered in his cell, lying unconscious in a pool of blood.

The episode also set up new story directions, including the evolving relationship between characters Zeke and Lacey, and the introduction of Sir’s sister, Lena, which will now never be explored.

A Look Back at Found

Created by Nkechi Okoro Carroll, Found ran for two seasons from October 2023 to May 2025. The series was praised for its diverse cast and for tackling difficult topics related to trauma and justice. At its heart was the complex and unsettling relationship between Gabi and Sir, a dynamic that critics and audiences found compelling.

The show will remain available for streaming on Peacock for fans who wish to re-watch the existing episodes.
