The spirit of Woodstone Manor will get a big dose of 1920s mystery and modern-day weirdness in the next episode of Ghosts. Episode 8, titled “The Life and Times of Esther Greene,” is set to air on CBS on Thursday, December 11, 2025. This episode focuses on the past of one of the manor’s most famous residents and sees the return of a memorably strange fan.
Following a week off for the Thanksgiving holiday, the show is continuing its fifth season with new weekly episodes every Thursday at 8:30 p.m. Eastern and Pacific Time. For fans who cannot watch live, the episode will be available on Paramount+ the next day.
What to Expect in Episode 8: Alberta’s Past and Todd’s New Obsession
The official plot for the episode centers on two key stories. First, the bizarre superfan Todd Pearlman is back. Previously obsessed with the ghostly singer Alberta, Todd now returns as a successful podcaster to feature a book written by Sam and Isaac. However, his attention quickly shifts from the authors to Jay, setting up a new and likely awkward situation for Sam’s husband.
The second and more mysterious story involves a ghostly couple. Now that Pete and Alberta are officially dating, Pete wants to know more about his girlfriend’s history. The episode’s title, “The Life and Times of Esther Greene,” points directly at this mystery, as Esther Greene is Alberta’s original, lesser-known name. Pete’s curiosity will force Alberta to confess a truth about her past that she has kept hidden.
The official synopsis states: “Now a successful podcaster, Todd Pearlman returns to profile Sam and Isaac’s book, but becomes obsessed with Jay; Pete tries to get to the bottom of why Alberta changed her name, forcing her to admit a hidden truth.”
A Look Back: What Happened in Episode 7
The previous episode, “The Proposal,” which aired on December 4, dealt with romantic drama of a different kind. Sam tried to help her friend Eric plan a surprise proposal for her sister, Bela. However, Bela began to doubt her relationship after a dream involving the ghost Sasappis, who has the power to influence people’s thoughts through their dreams. Despite attempts to salvage the proposal, Bela realized she was with Eric more out of fear of being alone than love, leading to their breakup.
