Jessie Cave, the actress best known for playing Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter film series, has revealed she was not booked for a recent Harry Potter fan convention because of her association with the content platform OnlyFans. The actress stated that event organizers explained their decision was due to the convention being a “family show” and OnlyFans being “affiliated with porn.” Cave found this reasoning confusing, noting that many actors who participate in conventions have performed sex scenes or nudity in films and television, while her own content on the platform is non-sexual and focuses on her hair.

The Convention’s Decision

In a post on her Substack in September 2025, Jessie Cave shared that she was disinvited from an upcoming Harry Potter fan convention. The event organizers directly informed her that the decision was linked to her presence on OnlyFans.

The organizers specifically stated that the convention was considered a “family show” and that the OnlyFans platform is “affiliated with porn”. This affiliation, despite the nature of Cave’s actual content, was the basis for their decision not to book her for the event.

Jessie Cave’s Reaction and Content Clarification

Cave expressed that she found the convention’s justification “baffling”. She pointed out a perceived double standard, noting that many actors who are welcomed at conventions have roles in TV and films that involve sex scenes and nudity.

The actress has been clear since launching her page in March 2025 that her content is not sexually explicit. She described her OnlyFans as a place for “sensual hair content” and emphasized, “Iโ€™m just playing with my hair!”. She uses the platform to share niche content about her long hair.

Financial Motivations Behind the OnlyFans Account

Cave has been open about her financial reasons for joining the subscription platform. She started the account at a time when she was uncertain about how to pay her bills and fund the move into a new house.

The income from OnlyFans has played a significant role in her life, helping her family settle into their new home. It has allowed them to afford painting, laying down carpets, and building bunk beds for her children. She has also described feeling a “sense of shame” about needing the platform, seeing it as proof of her failure to maintain financial stability through her acting and writing career over 18 years.

Moving On from the Wizarding World

Despite this setback, Cave stated that she is not upset about the prospect of no longer attending Harry Potter conventions. She acknowledged that the franchise is moving into a new chapter with a television reboot in production, which will feature a new cast.

She reflected on her long history with fan events, having done conventions for over 15 years. She noted that in some years, the money earned from signing photos was her main source of income. Cave concluded that it might be time to move on and focus on playing new characters.

A Note on the Platform’s Perception

While OnlyFans is popularly known for adult content, it is a content-sharing site used for various purposes. Cave’s situation highlights the broad perception of the platform and how association with it can impact professional opportunities, regardless of the actual content a creator produces.
