Indian viewers can now access HBO Max content without needing a separate app or subscription. JioHotstar and Warner Bros. Discovery have expanded their partnership to bring the HBO Max hub exclusively to the Indian streaming platform. The service went live on April 15, 2026, giving subscribers access to a massive collection of premium shows and movies from HBO, Max Originals, Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Television, and DC Studios all in one place.
The launch marks the first time all Warner Bros. titles are available on a single streaming service in India. Previously, HBO content moved between platforms like Disney+ Hotstar and JioCinema. Now with the merger that created JioHotstar in early 2025, Warner Bros. Discovery has locked in an exclusive partnership with the platform that controls about 85 percent of India’s streaming market.
What Indian Viewers Get at Launch
Euphoria Season 3 is available right now for Indian audiences. The critically acclaimed drama series returns as one of the biggest launch titles on the new HBO Max hub.
Other major shows already streaming include The Last of Us, The White Lotus, The Pitt, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Succession, Dune: Prophecy, Game of Thrones, and Sex and the City.
For fans of classic sitcoms, Friends and The Big Bang Theory are back on Indian streaming for the first time since their previous licensing deals ended. The deal also brings The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, and The Flash to the platform.
Movie fans get access to the complete Harry Potter film collection, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and titles from the DC Universe.
Upcoming Titles Coming Later in 2026
Several big releases are scheduled for later this year. House of the Dragon Season 3 will arrive exclusively on JioHotstar. The DC Studios series Lanterns is also part of the lineup.
The most talked-about upcoming release is the Harry Potter television series. The HBO Original, titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, will run for eight episodes in its first season. The show is scheduled for release later in 2026.
Subscription Cost and How to Access
The HBO Max hub is not included in the base JioHotstar subscription. Viewers need to purchase it as an add-on pack. The price starts at ₹49 per month (about 50 US cents). This add-on unlocks not just the HBO Max hub but also JioHotstar’s complete international content library.
JioHotstar’s base subscription plans start at ₹149 for three months with ads. The premium ad-free plan costs ₹299 per month. The HBO Max add-on sits below these prices, making it an easy addition for current subscribers.
Kevin Vaz, CEO of Entertainment at JioStar, explained the thinking behind the launch.
“This marks a defining moment in how premium global content is accessed and experienced in India. By bringing HBO Max to JioHotstar, we are creating a unified destination for premium international content and raising the bar for quality content once again. We are combining scale, curation, quality and ease of access,” Vaz said.
James Gibbons, President of Asia-Pacific at Warner Bros. Discovery, pointed to India’s importance in the global streaming market.
“India is one of the most vibrant streaming markets globally, and in JioHotstar, we have a partner with unmatched scale and a deep understanding of local audiences. The launch of HBO Max exclusively with JioHotstar marks the next chapter in our long-standing collaboration, enabling us to broaden the reach of our premium brands and franchises, and build deeper connections with fans across the country,” Gibbons stated.

Why This Deal Matters for Indian Viewers
Indian audiences no longer need to wait for HBO shows to appear on different platforms or rely on unofficial sources. The exclusive partnership means all current and future HBO, Max Original, and Warner Bros. content will stream directly on JioHotstar.
The timing works well for JioHotstar, which already has over 100 million paid subscribers and roughly 390 million monthly active users following the Reliance-Disney merger in early 2025. The platform holds cricket rights for the Indian Premier League and ICC tournaments, giving it a viewer base that no competitor can match.
Netflix has about 92 million monthly active users in India. Amazon Prime Video has 67 million. JioHotstar’s reach combined with HBO Max’s premium content creates a strong offering that rivals may find hard to compete with.
