Rising actress Hong Hwa Yeon has been confirmed as the female lead in SBS’s upcoming drama Treasure Island.

On October 1, it was announced that Hong Hwa Yeon will play the lead role in the drama, which is set to air in 2025. Treasure Island is about a man who hacks into a political slush fund account holding 2 trillion won (about $1.5 billion). However, he is killed by another man who unknowingly loses the entire 2 trillion won after the hack.

The series is written by Lee Myung Hee, known for Money Flower, and directed by Jin Chang Gyu, who previously worked on Military Prosecutor Doberman. Leading the cast are Park Hyung Sik and Heo Joon Ho, with former Oh My Girl member Gong Jiho also on board.

Hong Hwa Yeon will play Yeo Eun Nam, the female lead, though details about her character remain under wraps. The actress reportedly landed this role after surpassing tough competition, where she outshined 100 other candidates.
