HYBE has firmly refuted allegations suggesting that it subscribed to Sojang, a controversial YouTuber known for spreading slanderous content about various artists, including those under HYBE’s management.

Accusations Arise from Internal Reports

Recent reports indicated that Sojang’s channel was mentioned multiple times in HYBE’s internal documentation concerning other companies’ celebrities. The situation escalated when Sojang claimed to have a large-scale company subscribed to her channel as a paid member. In a recent statement, Sojang alluded to the identity of the company, stating:

“Hello. This is Sojang. We are honored to be subscribed to personally by one of the large-scale companies. It’s one of the following — SM, YG, JYP, HYBE.”

These comments sparked outrage and speculation regarding HYBE’s potential affiliation with Sojang, leading to further scrutiny from the public and media outlets.

HYBE’s Response to the Allegations

In light of the unfolding situation, a representative from HYBE addressed the accusations in a statement provided to Iilgan Sports on October 29, 2024. The representative stated:

“The accusations are not true.”

This emphatic denial aims to clarify HYBE’s position and distance the company from Sojang’s controversial content, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining a professional reputation in the entertainment industry.

Sojang Faces Legal Challenges

As the situation develops, Sojang is currently facing serious legal repercussions, including potential imprisonment of up to four years and substantial fines. She has been sued by multiple artists for slander, notably including IVE’s Wonyoung, who has played a significant role in initiating investigations against Sojang. This legal action underscores the severity of the allegations and the broader implications for content creators who spread misinformation about public figures.

The scrutiny surrounding HYBE and Sojang has highlighted the ongoing tensions between entertainment companies and digital content creators, particularly those whose platforms are utilized for defamatory purposes.
