The latest episode of Apple TV+’s Invasion delivers a major turning point as Mitsuki Yamato, once a dedicated alien hunter, is saved by the very creatures she vowed to destroy. “Homecoming,” which aired on October 17, 2025, forces characters and viewers alike to reconsider everything they know about the alien threat. The episode shifts the focus from all-out war to a complex moral question: are the aliens humanity’s enemy, or could their unity be a lesson for a divided human race?
Mitsuki’s Impossible Survival
The episode begins with Nikhil Kapur leading a desperate search party for Mitsuki after she vanished into the Dead Zone alone. He locates her unconscious body, pale and lying in a pool of her own blood, causing him to fear the worst. When he checks for wounds, he makes a confusing discovery: her clothes are soaked in blood, but her body shows no signs of injury.
Mitsuki is brought back to the WDC camp, where Aneesha cares for her. Upon waking, Mitsuki insists she was shot by an Infinitas scout, a claim that seems impossible without a wound. She slowly realizes the truthโthe alien “gardeners” healed her. This act of salvation completely changes her perspective on the conflict. She begins to see the aliens not as monsters, but as beings capable of empathy and unity.
Her new outlook creates immediate friction with the WDC soldiers, who accuse her of betrayal. Mitsuki challenges their hatred, pointing out a fundamental difference between the two species. She observes that the aliens are united in their purpose, while humans are constantly fighting amongst themselves. This healing experience transforms Mitsuki from a soldier committed to destruction into someone questioning the very foundation of the war.
Trevante’s Haunting Memory
In a parallel storyline, Trevante Cole confronts a traumatic memory from his past. While on patrol, he slips and falls near one of the pulsating alien vines. The contact triggers a violent flashback to his time inside the alien mothership, revealing a truth he had suppressed.
Trevante remembers that Caspar Morrow, the boy he swore to protect, did not die by an alien’s hand. Inside the mothership, the alien hive mind had taken control of Caspar, forcing him to attack Trevante with the alien shard. During the struggle, Trevante accidentally stabbed and killed Caspar. The memory returns with crushing guilt, as Trevante now believes he failed his mission.
He shares this painful truth with Jamila, Caspar’s friend, who is initially devastated. After a moment of reflection, Jamila forgives him, understanding that he was not in control. This forgiveness allows Trevante to remember more. He recalls that before dying, a conscious Caspar used the shard to strike the mothership’s core, causing the massive pulse that led to its crash. Trevante also remembers hiding in a “blind corridor” within the shipโa space where the aliens could not detect himโwhich allowed him to survive for two years. This corridor now becomes the team’s best hope for entering the mothership undetected.
The Dark Rise of Infinitas
The human threat proves just as dangerous as any alien force. Marilyn Tanner, now known by her real name Verna, leads the Infinitas cult deeper into the Dead Zone. Her group, which believes the aliens can reunite them with deceased loved ones, shows its true fanatical colors.
When one follower questions Verna’s authority and the group’s motives, he is immediately executed by Konrad, another militant leader. Verna not only supports this brutal act but threatens the rest of the group, demanding absolute loyalty. Her descent into dictatorship is complete when her own nephew, Joel, is taken hostage by the WDC. In a shocking move, Verna shoots Joel dead rather than let the WDC use him as leverage. Her actions prove that her faith has twisted into a destructive form of control, leaving her nearly alone by the episode’s end.
A Final Plan and a Heavy Cost
With Mitsuki back and the memory of the blind corridor recovered, the WDC finalizes its plan to infiltrate the mothership. The team retrieves the bomb Mitsuki had hidden, which is constructed from the alien-shard material. They plan to use the blind corridor Trevante discovered to enter the ship unseen and destroy it from within.
This plan comes at a great personal cost. The camp is attacked by Verna’s remaining Infinitas forces, leading to a violent confrontation. During the battle, Clark Evans, Aneesha’s partner, is shot and killed. Aneesha survives, protected by her body armor, but is left widowed for the second time. This loss transforms her grief into a hardened resolve to fight back.
The episode ends with the core teamโMitsuki, Nikhil, and Trevanteโpreparing to enter the mothership. They are humanity’s last hope, but their mission is now clouded by moral uncertainty and personal tragedy.
