A thoughtful gift from Jung Il Woo to Jung In Sun has sparked visible jealousy in Yoon Hyun Min in the latest episode of the popular KBS2 weekend drama “Our Golden Days”. Newly released stills from the show reveal a tense confrontation brewing between the two male leads, putting their friendship to the test over their feelings for the same woman.
The Gift That Started It All
In the upcoming episode, Lee Ji Hyuk (played by Jung Il Woo) gives a self-defense product to Ji Eun Oh (played by Jung In Sun) at the cafe where she works. The gift is presented as a practical and caring gesture for her safety, since Eun Oh finishes work late every day. While Eun Oh appears surprised by the unexpected present, Ji Hyuk remains determined to look after her.
This thoughtful act does not go unnoticed. From a distance, Park Sung Jae (played by Yoon Hyun Min) watches the exchange with a hardened expression, unable to hide his growing jealousy. His troubled gaze suggests deepening romantic feelings for Eun Oh and clear discomfort at seeing his close friend growing closer to her.
A Friendship Under Strain
The tension between the two friends escalates after Eun Oh leaves the scene. The drama stills capture a cold atmosphere between Ji Hyuk and Sung Jae as they face off in what appears to be a serious conversation. During this confrontation, Ji Hyuk looks noticeably taken aback by something Sung Jae says to him.
This isn’t the first time friction has developed between the friends over Eun Oh. In previous episodes, Sung Jae began actively expressing his feelings for Eun Oh, going on dates and playing games together. As their relationship appeared to develop into something beyond friendship, Ji Hyuk started noticing the change in their dynamic, causing him inner turmoil.
In earlier episodes, Ji Hyuk experienced clear jealousy when he spotted Eun Oh walking the streets at night with Sung Jae. Although Ji Hyuk had been frantically searching for Eun Oh because he thought she was missing, his relief at finding her safe quickly turned to visible anger and impatience when he saw she was with his friend.
Understanding the Characters
The complex love triangle stems from the characters’ established relationships. Lee Ji Hyuk is a 33-year-old representative at a general construction materials company, described as having a tsundere personality – appearing cool on the outside but warm-hearted and righteous underneath. He takes the lead in both work and love.
Ji Eun Oh is a 30-year-old cafe manager and interior designer who maintains her passion and positive spirit even in difficult circumstances. She is portrayed as a proactive person who chooses to act rather than remain stuck in worry or sorrow. In an interview about her role, Jung In Sun described her character as “someone who forges her own path in life, even if it is more difficult than a stable one.”
Park Sung Jae is a 33-year-old third-generation chaebol who appears perfect in looks, personality, ability, and family background. He is a close friend of Lee Ji Hyuk, making the love triangle particularly complicated. Yoon Hyun Min’s character carries emotional scars beneath his composed exterior, having been raised in privilege but battling loneliness.
The history between these characters adds depth to the current tension. According to the drama’s synopsis, Eun Oh previously confessed her feelings to Ji Hyuk during their university days, but he turned her down. Despite this rejection, they remained friends. Meanwhile, Sung Jae has developed feelings for Eun Oh over the years but had yet to confess, partly due to his loyalty to Ji Hyuk.
Behind the Scenes of the Hit Drama
“Our Golden Days” premiered on August 9, 2025 on KBS2 and airs every Saturday and Sunday. The drama is written by So Hyun-kyung and directed by Kim Hyung-seok, the same team behind the 2017 hit weekend drama “My Golden Life” which achieved impressive viewership ratings of up to 45%.
The show tells the story of different generations discovering the true meaning of family by learning to understand and share each other’s pain. While focusing on the love triangle between the three main characters, the drama also explores broader family dynamics, particularly within Lee Ji Hyuk’s family, who all become unemployed at the same time.
In an interview about the drama, Jung In Sun spoke about her chemistry with co-star Jung Il Woo, saying, “We openly shared ideas about each other’s roles, exchanged advice, and tried out different approaches. Because of that, it felt like we were painting one picture together, and we were able to bring out much richer emotions.”
The drama has been performing well in viewership ratings, opening with 13.9% nationwide and reaching its highest rating of 15.6% for its sixth episode on August 24, 2025. The series continues to build audience engagement with its compelling character dynamics and relatable family stories.
The upcoming episode featuring the jealous confrontation will air on October 4 at 8 p.m. KST. International viewers can watch previous episodes with subtitles on the streaming platform Viki.
