K-pop star Ailee has announced her engagement to actor Choi Si Hun, known for his appearance on Netflix’s Single’s Inferno. The singer shared details of the proposal on the January 18th episode of MBC’s variety show Hangout with Yoo.

On the show, host Yoo Jae Suk revealed the news, pointing out the stunning diamond ring on Ailee’s finger. Other cast members, such as Haewon from NMIXX and KCM, reacted with excitement, commenting on the ring’s size. Ailee, while a bit shy, expressed her happiness.
Ailee explained that they had already been discussing marriage, so a traditional proposal didn’t seem necessary. However, Choi Si Hun had planned a special surprise.
“I had already been planning the wedding, so a typical ‘Will you marry me?’ moment felt unnecessary. I told him I wasn’t into the idea, but Si Hun had already planned everything, including scouting the perfect location. He worked so hard on it, and instead of canceling, he found a way to make it even more special.”

A Surprise Video Montage
Ailee described how Choi Si Hun orchestrated the proposal with the help of one of her YouTuber friends. She was asked to review a new video, which unexpectedly turned into a montage of heartfelt messages from her friends and family in America. The video concluded with a message from Choi Si Hun, expressing his gratitude for her agreeing to marry him.
“Si Hun involved one of my YouTuber friends, who asked me to review a ‘newly uploaded video.’ While I was watching, the video unexpectedly shifted to a montage featuring heartfelt messages from my American friends, family, and finally, a video message from Si Hun himself, thanking me for agreeing to marry him.”
The gesture moved Ailee to tears.
“I couldn’t stop crying,” she said. “It was so touching. And now, I guess my single life has officially ended!” she added with a laugh.
Wedding Date Set
Ailee and Choi Si Hun are set to get married on April 20, 2025. Fans have expressed their support and congratulations to the couple.
