The makers of Kantara: Chapter 1 have officially dismissed rumors about the film’s release being postponed. Fans can mark their calendars for October 2, 2025, as the team reaffirmed the date with a social media announcement. The prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara remains on track despite earlier speculation about delays.
A video shared on Instagram by the film’s team directly addressed fan concerns. It featured a message asking, “Bro, is Kantara: Chapter 1 postponing its release date?” followed by a firm “No” in multiple languages. The caption read, “NO doubts. NO delays 🙂 The legendary saga, #KantaraChapter1, unfolds on October 2nd, 2025.”
“Rishabh anna flowing Insta trend,” wrote one fan in the comments. Another added, “Thank God! Excited for it.” Many also requested more updates, with one saying, “Please post new posters, character looks, promos, and something fresh!”
The film, directed by and starring Rishab Shetty, explores the origins of Kaadubettu Shiva during the Kadamba dynasty era. It promises grand visuals, including a massive war sequence shot with 500 trained fighters and 3,000 crew members. Shetty underwent three months of training in horse riding, Kalari, and sword fighting for his role.
Kantara: Chapter 1 is produced by Hombale Films on a reported budget of ₹125 crore. The cast includes Jayaram, Kishore, Jayasurya, and Rakesh Poojari. The original 2022 film was a nationwide hit, earning nearly ₹400 crore globally.
Despite earlier reports of delays due to production challenges, the team has assured fans that the project is progressing smoothly. The film’s teaser, released in November 2023, showcased Shetty in a fierce new avatar with long hair and a trishul.
Recent controversies, including the death of a junior artist near the filming location, were clarified by the production house. Hombale Films stated the incident was unrelated to the shoot. Legal issues regarding environmental damage claims during filming were also addressed separately.
With high expectations, Kantara: Chapter 1 aims to replicate the success of its predecessor. The film’s October release will coincide with the Gandhi Jayanti weekend, maximizing its box office potential.
