Kim Go Eun Discusses Her Role in Love in the Big City
On September 30, Kim Go Eun sat down for an interview at a café in Bukchon-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul. The actress was there to talk about her latest film, Love in the Big City, where she stars alongside Noh Sang Hyun. Directed by Lee Eon Hee, the film tells a romantic story about two people with very different views on life and love.
When asked about her character Jae Hee’s dating style, Kim Go Eun shared her thoughts. She described Jae Hee as someone who struggles with self-esteem, especially in relationships. Kim mentioned that Jae Hee often focuses too much on how much others like her, rather than how she feels about them. This, according to Kim, was one of Jae Hee’s biggest challenges in her 20s.
In one scene, Heung Soo (played by Noh Sang Hyun) tells Jae Hee, “You’re annoying, you’re so uncool,” and “You’re disappearing, look at yourself more.” Kim Go Eun explained that this is a turning point for Jae Hee, as she begins to realize her own insecurities.
Kim Go Eun’s Personal View on Love
In the interview, Kim Go Eun also opened up about her own view on relationships. Unlike her character, she shared that she values staying true to herself. Kim said she likes to take her time and observe before getting involved in a relationship, ensuring she feels comfortable enough to be her true self around her partner.
Interestingly, when asked about blind dates, Kim Go Eun laughed and revealed she has never been on one. She mentioned that she has always been curious to try it, but feels it might be too late for that now.
