Lawyer Bu Ji Seok, who represents Kim Sae Ron’s family, is now being investigated by police. The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) sent his case to law enforcement after reviewing a complaint. The complaint claims Bu went beyond his role as a legal advisor and made unverified statements during press conferences.
The controversy started when Kim Sae Ron’s family accused actor Kim Soo Hyun of dating her when she was a minor. Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Goldmedalist, denied this, saying their relationship began only after she became an adult. The family held multiple press conferences, sharing recordings and messages as evidence.
A whistleblower who helped the family was attacked in the U.S. last month. He was stabbed nine times in the neck by two men. The FBI is now handling the case. The whistleblower had recorded a conversation with Kim Sae Ron before her death, where she claimed she dated Kim Soo Hyun since middle school.
In the recording, Kim Sae Ron said, “I dated Soo Hyun oppa. You might say I’m crazy and not believe me, but I dated him since I was in middle school, and we broke up after I went to college. Soo Hyun oppa and those GOLDMEDALIST people are really scary and will do anything.” She also claimed he sent her inappropriate photos.
The family filed a criminal complaint against Kim Soo Hyun under the Child Welfare Act. They say he had a relationship with her when she was underage. The lawyer, Bu Ji Seok, has been leading these legal actions. Now, his own conduct is under scrutiny.
The person who reported Bu, known only as “A,” accused him of mixing legal work with media drama. The complaint says Bu worked with a YouTuber to spread unconfirmed claims, which could harm trust in lawyers. The ACRC agreed there was enough reason to investigate.
Kim Soo Hyun’s agency called the family’s evidence fake. They said the whistleblower first tried to sell them a different recording where Kim Sae Ron praised Kim Soo Hyun. When they refused to pay, he went to the media with damaging claims.
The whistleblower’s wife shared that actor Kim Won Bin helped them after the attack. She said, “I didn’t know who Won Bin was at first… He came quietly. He showed respect. That humanity meant more to us than we could ever have imagined.” Kim Won Bin has not commented publicly.
Kim Sae Ron’s family also reported threats near their home. Suspicious cars were seen near her aunt’s house. They asked for police protection. The case has drawn global attention due to the serious accusations and FBI involvement.
Kim Soo Hyun’s upcoming drama “Knock-Off” was delayed by Disney+. His fan meeting in Taiwan was also canceled. The scandal has affected his career, but he continues to deny all allegations.
