tvN’s upcoming drama “Is It Fate?” (also known as “Is It a Coincidence”) has set its premiere date!

On June 21, tvN announced that Kim So Hyun and Chae Jong Hyeop’s new drama “Is It Fate?” will premiere on July 22 at 8:40 p.m. KST.

Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, “Is It Fate?” will tell the story of young people finding true love and their dreams after accidentally running into their first love from 10 years ago. Kim So Hyun will star as Lee Hong Joo, an animation producer who is afraid of love due to painful memories from her previous relationship—and who undergoes an unexpected change after running into Kang Hoo Young (Chae Jong Hyeop), who witnessed some of her lowest moments from her past.

“I’m delighted to be able to play the fun and lovable character of Lee Hong Joo,” said Kim So Hyun. “I hope you’ll look forward to this heartwarming and lovely drama.”

Chae Jong Hyeop will star as Kang Hoo Young, a handsome and highly intelligent financial planner living in the United States who never needed to work hard to achieve great results. Bored with his dull and meaningless life, Kang Hoo Young finds his heart fluttering again when he returns to Korea for the first time in a long while and unexpectedly reunites with Lee Hong Joo, his first love from high school, after 10 years.

Chae Jong Hyeop remarked, “I’m thrilled and honored to be able to play Kang Hoo Young, a character with depth.”

Yoon Ji On will be appearing in the drama as Bang Joon Ho, a free-spirited writer who wants to change the past. “I’m delighted to be able to work together on a great drama with a director and actors I respect,” said Yoon Ji On. “Please give [our drama] lots of interest and support.”

Finally, SISTAR’s Dasom will be playing the role of Lee Hong Joo’s best friend Kim Hye Ji, an English teacher who is sincere about love and has blossomed since her days as a shy high schooler.

“Because the character of Kim Hye Ji is so charming, I really had fun playing her during filming,” said Dasom. “In a number of different ways, ’Is It Fate?’ is the project for which I feel the most affection.”
