Actor Kim Soo Hyun’s legal team has strongly denied claims made by Garosero Research Institute, calling them fake and harmful. The YouTube channel accused the actor of wrongdoing linked to the late actress Kim Sae Ron, but his agency says the evidence is made up.
On May 7, law firm LKB & Partners, representing Kim Soo Hyun and his agency Gold Medalist, released a statement. They said Garosero’s claims, including an audio recording of Kim Sae Ron and photos of an attack, are false. The agency plans to take legal action against the channel.
“Garosero Research Institute claimed to have an audio file of Kim Sae Ron, but it is completely fake. We believe it was made using AI,” the legal team said. They explained that someone tried to sell this fake recording to Gold Medalist but failed.
The agency also denied a photo shared by Garosero, claiming it showed an attack ordered by Kim Soo Hyun’s lawyer. “These photos are easily found online. They were downloaded and used as fake proof,” the statement said. Gold Medalist called this a planned cyber attack to harm the actor’s reputation.
Kim Soo Hyun’s agency will file complaints against Garosero for breaking South Korea’s Anti-Stalking Law and Information and Communications Network Act. They say the channel has a history of spreading false information and will face legal consequences.
Fake Audio and Extortion Attempt
Garosero Research Institute held a press conference claiming they had an audio recording of Kim Sae Ron. In the file, she supposedly spoke about her past with Kim Soo Hyun. But Gold Medalist says the recording is fake and made with AI.
The agency revealed that an unknown person first approached them with the audio. “This person said they had a recording where Kim Sae Ron spoke well about Kim Soo Hyun. They asked for money in exchange,” the statement said. When Gold Medalist refused, the person went to Garosero.
“The person who gave the recording has no real connection to Kim Sae Ron. After failing to trick us, they worked with Garosero to release fake content,” the agency added. They are checking the audio file to confirm it was made using AI.
False Attack Photos
Garosero also claimed that the person who gave them the audio was attacked by Kim Soo Hyun’s lawyer, Go Sang Rok. They shared photos as proof, but Gold Medalist says these images were taken from the internet.
“The so-called attack photo is not real. A simple online search shows it was downloaded from the web,” the agency said. They called Garosero’s actions a serious crime and said the channel is known for spreading lies.
Gold Medalist accused Garosero of trying to damage Kim Soo Hyun’s reputation with fake evidence. “This is a new type of crime using AI. We will make sure those responsible are punished,” the agency warned.
Legal Action Against Garosero
Gold Medalist said they will file lawsuits against Garosero for defamation, stalking, and spreading fake content. The agency is working with investigators to hold the channel accountable.
“We will take all legal steps to protect Kim Soo Hyun’s reputation. This includes working with overseas legal teams to remove harmful content on platforms like YouTube and X (Twitter),” the statement said.
Kim Soo Hyun has faced online attacks since Kim Sae Ron’s death in February 2025. Some people accused him of being involved in her personal struggles, but he has denied all claims.
Fans React
Kim Soo Hyun’s fans have shown strong support. In April, a global fan group hired a lawyer to fight online hate against him. They started a petition to stop false rumors.
Kim Sae Ron’s family has filed their own lawsuit against the actor, claiming he mistreated her when she was young. But Kim Soo Hyun’s side says these accusations are false.
The legal battle between Kim Soo Hyun and Garosero Research Institute is expected to continue. The agency says they will keep fighting false claims online.
