Netflix’s new animated series Kpop Demon Hunters has become a worldwide sensation, topping the streaming charts in 22 countries just one day after its release. The show, which blends K-pop music with supernatural action, is winning over audiences with its unique story, catchy songs, and stunning animation.

The series follows Rumi, Mira, and Joy, members of a famous K-pop girl group who secretly fight demons. By day, they perform for fans in sold-out concerts. By night, they protect the world from evil spirits. Their biggest challenge comes when a popular boy band, Saja Boys, turns out to be demons in disguise.

Fans love the show’s high-energy music, produced by top K-pop hitmakers like Teddy Park (BLACKPINK, BIGBANG), Lindgren (BTS, TWICE), and Jenna Andrews (BTS, Drake). Songs like “TAKEDOWN,” “How It’s Done,” and “Free” have already become fan favorites. Netflix even changed its official profile to celebrate the show’s success.

The animation style, created by Sony Pictures Animation (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse), mixes bold colors and dynamic action. The voice cast includes Ahn Hyo Seop (in his English dubbing debut) and Lee Byung Hun as the villain Gwima. Members of TWICE (Jeongyeon, Jihyo, Chaeyoung) also contributed to the soundtrack.

The series is packed with Korean culture, featuring famous locations like Namsan Seoul Tower and traditional hanok rooftops. Folklore elements, like grim reapers, add depth to the story. With its fast-paced action and authentic K-pop vibe, “K-pop: Demon Hunters” is one of 2025’s biggest animated hits.

“I’ve always thought of K-pop as the most theatrical genre of pop, and I was instantly excited by the possibilities of what could happen in a narrative context with K-pop songs.”
Ian Eisendrath, Executive Music Producer

The show’s success proves that K-pop’s global influence keeps growing. Fans are already asking for more seasons, and the soundtrack is climbing music charts worldwide.
