The cast of the upcoming romantic comedy “Marry YOU“, including Lee Yi Kyung, Jo Soo Min, iKON’s Junhoe, and Ji Yi Soo, recently shared their thoughts on the drama, its characters, and the themes of love and marriage.
Lee Yi Kyung Connects with His Role Through His Roots
Lee Yi Kyung, who portrays Bong Chul Hee, a kind-hearted bachelor from a remote island, explained his personal connection to the role:
“Chul Hee’s hometown is in Chungcheong Province, which is also where I’m from, so I found the idea of performing in my local dialect appealing.”
He described his character as a warm and responsible individual, saying:
“Chul Hee is the most harmless and innocent young man. He is responsible and has a warm heart. My first goal is to make viewers like Chul Hee. I think I can show both comedy and emotional depth through this character.”
Jo Soo Min on Her “Healing” Character and Personal Views
Jo Soo Min, who plays civil servant Jung Ha Na, emphasized the comforting nature of the drama:
“It’s not a sensational drama, but it is one that you can watch comfortably. When I read the script, I felt healed, and I think it will bring healing to the viewers as well.”
She highlighted the similarities and differences between herself and her character:
“Jung Ha Na is a proactive person who lives her life planning a future where she is content being single. Unlike Ha Na, I do not have a strong anti-marriage stance. I’m someone who wants to meet a good person, date for a long time, and eventually get married.”
Jo Soo Min teased the journey of her character:
“Ha Na, who does not believe in marriage, meets Chul Hee, who views the world without prejudice. She begins to reconsider her stance on marriage. Please look forward to how Ha Na’s character changes.”
iKON’s Junhoe Explores the Layers of His Character
iKON’s Junhoe, playing elite civil servant Choi Ki Jun, reflected on the meaningful themes of the drama:
“I thought this would be a work where I could reflect on the values of love and marriage, and think about both marriage and being single.”
Describing his character, he shared:
“Choi Ki Jun may appear perfect on the outside but carries an unseen loneliness within.”
Junhoe added insights into his acting approach:
“The way Ki Jun behaves with Ha Na, Chul Hee, and In Ah is completely different, so I focused on showing this through my acting.”
Ji Yi Soo on Synergy with the Cast and Her Role
Ji Yi Soo, portraying corporate executive Oh In Ah, praised the drama’s comforting atmosphere:
“‘Marry YOU’ is a healing drama with a comforting atmosphere. I believe that the drama will resonate with the viewers and provide both empathy and enjoyment.”
She expressed her excitement about working with the talented cast:
“When I heard that Lee Yi Kyung, Jo Soo Min, and Junhoe were cast, I thought there was no reason not to join the cast. I’m really looking forward to the synergy that will unfold between us.”
Ji Yi Soo described her character as someone who is emotionally open:
“Oh In Ah is a person who is able to express her feelings honestly and openly when it comes to love. She embodies both ‘coolness and cuteness.’”
