The emotional pods of Love Is Blind Season 9 saw Kalybriah Haskin and Edmond Harvey build a strong connection, but their first major argument during the couples’ retreat revealed a significant clash in expectations about physical intimacy. The conflict, which unfolded in Episode 6, put their new engagement to the test as they struggled to see eye-to-eye.

How Kalybriah and Edmond Connected

Inside the pods, Kalybriah and Edmond’s bond formed quickly and deeply. They discovered shared visions for a marriage built on a 50/50 partnership and respecting each other’s independence. Their connection became particularly profound when Edmond opened up about his childhood growing up in the foster care system. Kalybriah, a social worker who herself grew up in a nonprofit home, was deeply moved by his vulnerability.

“You’re more of a man if you cry, if you ask me,” Kalybriah told him, adding that “the strongest people cry.” This emotional safety made them certain about their future together, leading to a heartfelt engagement. Their initial meeting in person was sweet, with Edmond surprising her with a pair of sneakers to match his own. However, the first signs of tension appeared when Kalybriah asked how he would react if another man tried to hit on her at a club. She was looking for a protector and was not pleased with his non-confrontational answer.

The Argument Over Physical Intimacy

The couple’s central conflict came to a head in Mexico when they discussed the physical aspect of their relationship. Unlike the other engaged couples, Kalybriah and Edmond had not been physically intimate. Kalybriah explained that she wanted to wait until they were married, a decision consistent with her past approach to relationships where she has waited even longer with serious partners, while also having had “one-nighters” with less substantial connections.

Edmond took this as a worrying sign about her level of emotional commitment. He became visibly upset, sharing that he felt he was “more locked in with you emotionally than you are with me.” He confessed, “I’m in it more than you, and it’s OK, but it just hurts.” The conversation escalated when Edmond, becoming emotional, made a statement that stood out to viewers. He said, “I’m just always the fcking nice guy. That’s what fcks me up. I’m too f*cking nice!” He also admitted that he was “kind of stuck on you having one-night stands,” struggling with the fact that she had been physically intimate with less serious partners in the past but was choosing to wait with him, her fiancรฉ.

Kalybriah’s Response and Reflection

In the moment, Kalybriah assured Edmond that her decision to wait was not a reflection of her feelings for him. However, she realized the conversation was going in circles and chose to end it, leaving the discussion on a cliffhanger for viewers.

Looking back on the argument more than a year after filming, Kalybriah has spoken about the incident with understanding. She explained that in that intense moment, Edmond was “still processing what’s happened in the past and not fully able to live here in the present yet.” She noted the unique pressure of their situation, saying, “We’re so fresh. We’re so new. Like, yeah, we’ve fallen in loveโ€ฆ but this is our first few interactions in person.”

She expressed that she wasn’t offended by his perspective, stating, “I’ve dated men my whole life, so I understand what the end goal is physically, so I wasn’t offended or anything. And I was very understanding. It just got a little heated afterwards with the lack of understanding on his end, but I don’t think he meant any harm in the moment. It was just a lot of emotions.”
