The release schedule follows a weekly pattern. The first two episodes premiered on December 24. Episodes 3 and 4 will be released together on December 31. The final two episodes will arrive on January 7 and January 14, 2026, respectively.
The exact release time is set for 4:00 PM Korea Standard Time (KST). For global audiences, this translates to:
Disney+ typically adds English subtitles immediately upon release. Each episode runs for approximately 43 to 68 minutes.
The story is set in 1970s South Korea, a period of significant political tension and change. Hyun Bin plays Baek Ki-tae, a high-ranking agent within the Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA). Outwardly a government official, he secretly runs smuggling operations to build his own wealth and power. Jung Woo-sung plays Jang Geon-young, a sharp and principled public prosecutor determined to expose corruption at the highest levels of government.
The first episode opened with a tense plane hijacking by activists. Baek Ki-tae, using the alias Kenji, was on that plane carrying a mysterious briefcase. He managed to resolve the situation, revealing his skills and secretive nature. Later, his true identity as a KCIA agent was uncovered.
Episode 2 deepened the conflict. Prosecutor Jang Geon-young began investigating the powerful Manjae group and its dealings with the Japanese Yakuza. He and his partner, detective Oh Ye-jin (Seo Eun-soo), went undercover, leading to dangerous confrontations. By the end of the episode, Jang Geon-young had discovered that Baek Ki-tae is not only involved with the Manjae group but is also hiding major secrets. This sets the stage for a direct confrontation.
Jung Woo-sung described the dynamic between the two main characters, noting the added complexity that both are inside public organizations.
“These two main characters coming head to headโฆ theyโre both inside a public organization. So I think that adds a new layer of intrigue, because even if you doubt the other personโฆ you canโt immediately write him off or go after him because youโre both a part of the public organization,”
The series boasts one of the most impressive casts in recent Korean television. Alongside the two leads, the ensemble includes Won Ji-an as a Yakuza lobbyist, Cho Yeo-jeong as the madam of a high-end social club, and Woo Do-hwan as Baek Ki-tae’s younger brother. Veteran actor Park Yong-woo joins as Hwang Guk-pyeong, the head of the KCIA’s Busan branch and Ki-tae’s superior.
