Ella Morgan, the first transgender bride on Married at First Sight UK, has shared that a well-known celebrity used a transphobic slur to refer to her in a private conversation. The reality TV star revealed this hurtful experience during a podcast appearance, stating that the comment was made behind her back to one of her friends.

The Shocking Revelation

Ella Morgan disclosed the incident during an appearance on the Fed Up social show. She explained that there are two people in the public eye she is “not a fan of” because she finds them “really fake,” and one of them was directly disrespectful.

“One of them really wasn’t very nice about me, she doesn’t know that I know actually so this will be the first time she’s heard back,” Morgan stated. “She referred to me as a t****y to one of my friends who then told me.”

Ella expressed confusion about the celebrity’s motives, suggesting the person was reportedly jealous of her. She found this baffling, noting that the celebrity is “a lot more well-known” and has “way more followers” than she does. She contrasted this with her own approach to life and fame, saying, “What you see with me is what you get. I’m 100% myself on TV and I’m the same as I am, like, off TV.” She did not name the celebrity involved.

A Pattern of Facing Abuse

This is not the first time Ella Morgan has been the target of transphobic abuse. During her time on MAFS UK, both she and her partner JJ Slater faced significant online harassment from trolls.

When their relationship began on the show, JJ faced a wave of homophobic slurs and questions about his sexuality from viewers. He repeatedly had to clarify that he sees Ella as a woman, and therefore his relationship with her is a straight relationship.

“No! I see Ella as a girl. I don’t know how many times I have to say that,” JJ said in a TikTok live. “The thing is, everyone in the experiment saw Ella as a woman and a girl because that’s what she is.”

Ella publicly defended JJ at the time, posting on her Instagram story that his open and proud attitude toward being with her showed “how incredible he is as a cisgendered straight guy.” She praised him for not treating her as a “dirty secret or a fetish,” and acknowledged that it took guts for him to date a transgender woman on national television knowing the potential hate he would receive.

Ella’s Advocacy and Message

Beyond her reality TV fame, Ella Morgan has become a vocal advocate for trans rights. She has used her platform to speak out against policies she finds harmful and to share her personal journey.

Last year, she criticized the UK government’s new guidance for schools on transgender pupils, saying that if such rules had existed when she was a child, they would have kept her “in the closet.” She described the guidance as “damaging” for trans kids and argued that it removes equality.

She has also been critical of the NHS’s Cass Review, which looked into healthcare for trans youth. She urged the NHS to listen to trans people directly, rather than making decisions without their input.

“Let us have our voices and be heard and be seen,” she told PinkNews. “Unless you actually speak to the source and the people going through it, I don’t think you can make recommendations.”

On a personal level, Ella has shared powerful messages about her identity. In a social media post featuring childhood photos, she explained her lifelong understanding of herself.

“I am simply a girl who was born in the wrong body,” she wrote. “My outside now matches how I’ve always felt inside. I didn’t want to become a girl – I AM and have always been a girl.”

Her story highlights the ongoing challenges and prejudice that transgender people face, even in the public eye, and underscores the importance of respect and acceptance.
